It was supposed to be an easy article about Cain Archer.
Never did I think it would lead me straight into the arms of a serial killer.
When the magazine I worked for sent me to write a piece on The Elysian, and the recluse architect who created it, I didn’t know what to expect.
It certainly wasn’t him.
He was supposed to be cold and cruel, but to me, he was intoxicating. Magnetic. And impossible to quit.
The deeper I fell, the harder it became to ignore that inner voice, screaming that darkness followed Cain.
I wanted to be wrong.

But I needed to find the answers.

This didn’t take long to inhale, a few twisty turns, which I kind of had an inkling about 😅 or just wishful thinking.
I also liked how it ended, another little twist which was kind of confusing as it didn’t match up with what we’d learnt but maybe it’s my blondness missing the dots connecting! But all in all I still enjoyed it..
Definitely worth #1clicking and can’t wait to see what this author writes next!

Here Lies North was a sexy and suspenseful story that I could not get enough of. Layla and Cain's connection was immediate. You could feel their connection right off the pages! I loved this story and how descriptive Harrison's writing is!
Overall, this is my first suspense story from this author. I loved the chemistry, dual perspective and how addicting the story was. I loved the concept of the Elysian and how Harrison brought the story to life. This story had suspense, a fiery connection and engaging characters that caught my attention. Bravo! 4 stars!~Ratula

This story wasn’t exactly what I thought it would have been...
Here lies North is a GREAT book, with an amazing storyline.
It took me a bit to be invested in the story, tho. It wasn't boring, far from it, but for me the beginning was a bit slow, even if the connection between the main characters was immediate.
What "bother" me is the fact that for about the 70% the story is just a romance with a bit of suspense due to Cain' secrets.
It mainly focused on the growing attraction/obsession/love between Cain and Layla.
And let me say this: the relationship between the two of them is freaking amazing!!
I loved how different Cain was with Layla 😍😍
The last 30% of the story become a thriller with action, and twist and turns that keep you on the edge. And that's the part i enjoyed the most 🤩
I would have liked a better mix of the two aspects. But it’s still a YES for me and I totally recommend.
And now I have a new author whose books i need to check out. 😌

Fantastic! I absolutely devoured this sexy romantic-suspense thriller. The tension starts from the shocking prologue, and then builds with each chapter. I was already in love with it, then at about 50 percent it literally exploded. I couldn't read this one fast enough. Be sure to block off a day, because you won't want to put this one down. A sexy hero, a tenacious heroine, loads of chemistry, and a twisty, unique story. Don't miss this thrill ride--FIVE STARS!

Mind blown! Every time I sit down to read an Ava Harrison book, I know that I am always in for a thrilling, suspenseful, and steamy ride. Here Lies North was no exception and had me on the edge of my seat with every crazy twist and spicy turn. Layla Marks, an up-and-coming journalist, finally lands an assignment that could change her career. Cain Archer is somewhat a man of mystery and a billionaire who has created The Elysian, an innovative private community ran on artificial intelligence. When Layla and Cain meet, they instantly have blazing hot chemistry that is mesmerizing and hypnotic at the same time. Layla is a strong, passionate heroine with brave ambitious goals. Cain is a bit guarded and may have a few dangerous secrets from his past. When the Compass Killer strikes again both Layla and Cain find themselves in a bit of trouble.
Overall I love this book! Here Lies North is absolutely amazing! I have chills and am so excited about this story! It consumed me!
First, I have to note how impressive the Elysian is. What a cool concept. And through Ava Harrison’s descriptive writing, I felt like I was submersed inside and experiencing and seeing everything being laid out before my eyes.
The story. Just wow! The characters are fantastic. Cain and Layla’s connection is felt through every interaction. The character development and the intricate way the plot is weaved will keep you captivated to the very end. And I mean, the very end. Fantastic writing.
Here Lies North is filled with suspense and intrigue, danger and desire, and hope for what has always been thought to be unattainable. It’s absolutely fantastic and a must read!

A wonderfully written storyline that has it all - suspense, intrigue, romance and a deep connection between the characters. Cain and Layla are instantly attracted to each other but that does not always make for smooth sailing and unbridled happiness. The plus to this story was the creation of Elysian which could have been a character all on it's own.

Here Lies North by Ava Harrison takes you through an exhilarating journey of love, passion, secrets and dangers. This romantic suspense was unexpectedly heavy on romance for me and the mystery added to the appeal.
Layla got a major scope to show to her editor that writing home Architect pieces is not her real skill when he sends her to cover an exclusive tour of The Elysian. A groundbreaking concept by reclusive architecture genius Cain Archer. When she arrived at the enthralling property in middle of mountain and forest, she expected Cain to be like what she read in media. Cold. Closed. But he takes an immediate interest in her and they form a close connection. But will it go anywhere with Cain's secrets?
The concept of this book is really interesting. The book starts with a prologue about the Compass Killer and then we start Layla and Cain's story. It goes through very emotional and messy steps till the mystery part reappers. You can feel that Cain Archer has his own demons. His inner monologues glimpsed at the broken man with skeletons in the closet. But you won't be able to get all the pieces together until late and that curiosity will make you turning pages. Layla is a very bright and smart woman. She is observant and intelligent and she didnt miss that the enigmatic Cain Archer is hiding something. Her days at the Elysian were full of surprises and intrigue and their connection was undeniable. But it was difficult too as Cain wasn't opening up and kept on breaking Layla's heart unintentionally.
This man is a contrast. He showed Layla his playful, charming and seductive side but the world sees a cold hearted man. The chemistry was sizzling hot that gradually intensified from the slow burn passion. Those last few chapters were fast paced and full of twists and adventures. I wish we could see a bit more suspense throughout the book rather than putting it all at the end. I also wanted to see a bit more of Cain and Layla's struggles after going through something so traumatic. It ended a bit abruptly and everything got wrapped up a bit too easily.

Here Lies North really captured my attention and made it difficult to put the book down. There was so much suspense in this story that really had me guessing throughout the book. There was so much I loved about this story and how descriptive this story was written. The characters' connection was really shown throughout the story, showing how much they really did love each other.
Layla was the strong heroine in the story that was determined to do what she needed in order to have the career that she wanted. I really loved her determination and the way she isn't afraid to be who she is.
Cain was a mystery throughout the story and had me wanting to know more about him the more I read. I really enjoyed his character and found him to be completely intriguing.
This story was really interesting and suspenseful. I really loved the two main characters and the way their relationship developed throughout the story. I loved the development of both the characters in the story and the way the author wrote this story. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Even a couple days after finishing Here Lies North, I am still having trouble putting into words my feelings. I was consumed by Cain & Layla and their story.
I don’t want to spoil any aspect, but I want to say it is unlike anything that I have read by Ava Harrison. And I loved every twist & turn. I loved thinking I knew what was going to happen and I was wrong.
So if you love a story that pulls you in and keeps you on your toes, Here Lies North is the book for you!
I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Sebastian York and Ava Erickson did an amazing job bringing this story to life. I was honestly worried on what was going on in the book. I couldn’t figure it out. I was so lost at one point, but when the pieces started falling into place I was thinking wow that’s crazy. I really enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and the banter between Cain and Layla was fun. They are opposites but not at the same time.

It took me 23 days to read this book. That’s unheard of for me. Ava Harrison is usually a one-click author for me. I found this book very boring for the first 60-70% and would put it down for days at a time. The ended did take a nice twist but was very anticlimactic for the amount of buildup the author does.

Layla is a journalist for a home magazine which is sending her on an assignment to interview mysterious Cain Archer the inventor of a community of AI-Artificial Intelligence homes. He seems smitten with Layla the minute they meet and she with him.
This book was a refreshing thrill ride of twists and turns that left me flabbergasted! The author does a fantastic job of keeping us readers on our toes. Just when you think you’ve figured things out it takes a huge turn in a different direction.

Layla's about to get the story (and love) of her life when she heads to the Elysian to write an exclusive. She's tired of writing fluffy, boring pieces about things she doesn't care about, so this break is something she's going to make the most of. Except the man behind Elysian is turning out to be quite unlike she had expected. He's hiding secrets for sure. But can she get past that idea and find a future with him?
Here Lies North is such a departure for Ava in the sense that it's a thriller, but it's got her signature heart with great chemistry, and of course suspense and intrigue. And it was that intrigue, the twist that really made this story for me. I love how we really didn't know everything for the longest time, and when it came, I enjoyed the hell out of it. I hope Ava writes more romantic thrillers now!

I loved how Layla is strong while being compassionate and has some seriously ambitious goals. Cain is holding all the dangerous secrets from his past and is seriously guarded. There is also the Compass Killer and when he strikes again after the meet they find themselves in a bit of trouble. What that is I can't tell you. You have to read to find out all the secrets and what is happening. This is a great romantic suspense book that you will not want to lay down. I though there were so many things going on in this book that your attention is held the entire time while your brain is going a million miles an hour.

From the moment they meet, like I have said, they have this instant connection and so much chemistry you can feel it melting off the very pages of your kindle. I loved how Layla is strong while being compassionate and has some seriously ambitious goals. Cain is holding all the dangerous secrets from his past and is seriously guarded. There is also the Compass Killer and when he strikes again after the meet they find themselves in a bit of trouble. What that is I can't tell you. You have to read to find out all the secrets and what is happening. This is a great romantic suspense book that you will not want to lay down. I though there were so many things going on in this book that your attention is held the entire time while your brain is going a million miles an hour.

I’m not usually one for reading romantic thrillers, but when I saw the sign up for this I couldn’t resist. The blurb alone was enough to reel me in, and I wasn’t disappointed. The prologue was enough to give me palpitations and considering I was on a train at the time, I thought people would find it weird if I lay in the aisle to try and calm myself down.
The story of Cain and Layla is one filled with intrigue, suspense and a fair bit of steam. Meeting when Layla is sent to write an article on Cain’s new exclusive property development, the two of them are inexplicably drawn to one another. Known to everyone around him as cold and unfeeling, he finds himself feeling anything but toward Layla, and let me just say, he was a man obsessed.
I loved the interactions between Cain and Layla, especially their first meeting, the tension between them was palpable and I was here for it.
The thriller part of this story was incredible, and it kept me guessing constantly throughout the book. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the author was like ‘nope!’, and I was on the edge of my seat, desperate to know how this would all turn out.
I don’t want to say anymore for fear of spoilers, however I will say that it’s one of those books you absolutely need to read, I was hooked until the very last word. This definitely won’t be the last book I read from this author.
THE BAD ☹️
Even though I liked Cain as a character, I have to say at some points throughout the book I found his actions to be somewhat… creepy. There were times when I just wanted to shout ‘DUDE CHILL’.

The Female MC is a journalist for an architecture magazine, but what she really wants to be is an investigative journalist. When she gets sent on assignment to write about a new AI equipped housing community, she starts researching the architect, Cain Archer. He isn't ever seen with the same woman more than once, doesn't smile, and isn't really in the spotlight.
As she prepares for her article she keeps getting warned to be careful around Cain, but why? She arrives at The Elysian she is blown away. It is like something out of a sci-fi book, it blends in and is just breathtaking in its creation.
When Cain sees Layla for the first time he is taken aback and changes all of his plans to lead her through the tour during the week of her stay. She makes him want to smile for the first time, ever. As they grow closer her assignment comes to an end and she goes back home. So this is the end of their time together, or is it? This book had a fantastically absorbing plot that kept me glued to the edge of my seat! Layla is a journalist tasked with writing about a community development called The Elysian, which is jaw dropping, and gorgeous, but all Layla can focus on is the lead architect, Cain.
What starts as a story of a mutual attraction and the pains of a burgeoning long distance relationship, suddenly takes a turn with the return of a notorious serial killer.
This suspenseful and engaging read kept me guessing until almost the very end! I loved the twists and turns, and of course, the sexy relationship between Layla and Cain!

Suspenseful; Here Lies North. Dark and twisted; Here Lies North. An absolute must read; Here Lies North. This latest book by Ava Harrison is a slow burn romance that is more suspenseful than anything else. I love Ava Harrison stories but Here Lies North really pulled me. In the mountains of New York is a place, one that is basically out of a fairy tale but one that also holds dark and twisted secrets. Cain Archer is an enigma to say the least. Cain is gorgeous and intelligent and a brilliant architect but is closed off, and grouchy and down right mean to people. With a new state of the art home community Cain has everything running smoothly till Layla Marks shows up to write a story about his building project. Layla makes Cain feel things he has never felt before but there is danger in those wooded mountains and Layla just might be Cain’s downfall. Cain has secrets that he isn’t willing to share and just as he thinks he has a handle on his life then the darkness within raises its head once more. A serial killer has returned, and no one knows why, but the Compass Killer is back. What triggered this latest killing spree? Layla is determined to find out who he is, even if it makes her his next target. Here Lies North is a very detailed story that will have you imagining the morning dew on your cheeks and the crunch of leaves under your feet, and the sting of the sharp blade on your skin. Here Lies North is full of hot sexual tension between Cain and Layla, but one of them has to make the first move and that move just might be the beginning of the end. 5-stars for Her Lies North, a brilliantly written sexy suspenseful story by Ava Harrison.

I confess I liked the second part of the book immensely more than the first. In the beginning we get more of Cain talking about his projects and Layla acting all giggly like a teen. I wanted to get to the mystery part already, but when it did, I enjoyed the plot immensely.
Once again I come across a book with a mystery I couldn’t solve. Ava tried to lead us to certain paths, but I always kept in mind “No, it must be something else!” Well, every explanation I came up with were far from the truth. If you figure out before it’s all revealed, please tell me. You will be my hero.

Tengo mucho que decir.
Here Lies North, es un libro ideal para los que aman el misterio, asesinatos y el terror, aunque no necesariamente será de lo que trate la historia.
Inicié el libro pensando que sería el típico romance con algo de misterio y relleno, como siempre, pero no fue así.
La autora logra crear un ambiente de incomodidad y confusión al máximo. Diría que toda la primera mitad del libro me sentía expectante a que sucediera algo, o tenía mil teorías en mi cabeza, sin darme cuenta que la 1er parte era la introducción de la historia, la punta del iceberg.
Amo como inicias el libro pensando algo y lo terminas diferente.
Es decir, me encantó la razón del título del libro y como cobra sentido en la historia, le doy crédito a la autora por eso.
Ahora si, pasamos a lo negativo.
La relación de Layla y Cain, me parecío muy "Amor instantáneo" y eso no me gusta, siento que por el contexto de la historia hubiera sido épico ver más desarrollo por ese lado.
También sinto que la historia de la ciudad ficticia quedó de lado, y siento que tenía mucho potencial. Digo, hay muchos cabos sueltos en el libro, que no se contestan del todo, pero lo dejaré pasar por esta vez.
Lo recomiendo si quieren dejar de leer romance un día, tipo el libro lo tiene y hay una escena que me encanta, además contiene esas eróticas, pero aún así todo es más el ambiente de misterio.

Here Lies North was a sexy mysterious suspenseful story that follows Layla and Cain. It did take me time to become invested in the story I found the beginning quite slow action wise. The connection between the two was immediate and you could feel the attraction that only grew as the story progressed. Layla is inquisitive by nature and realises that Cain is a man of secrets that she slowly tries to unravel. I liked that through his relationship with Layla we and others begin to see a totally different man. Is he the man he could have been or is this just another aspect of the persona he has created was something I asked myself repeatedly. I would say the last 30-40% of the story was when the book turned from romance to the faster paced thriller element I was looking for. The twists and turns had me trying to guess what would happen next and trying to reconcile the character dynamics. Overall I really enjoyed the storyline although I would have liked more of the suspense element. Just when I thought the twists were over the ending delivered the ending delivered the ultimate plot twist ,,,, or did it?

As always, Ava Harrison is an author I could count on for a thrilling romance with mysterious heroes and tough heroines. With her books I don’t even think about spoilering because you have to see for yourself
Cain is a tortured man, a reclusive man who built his “temple” (the Elysium) in a beautiful and secluded place. Layla, our heroine, is sent by her boss in Archer’s cave to interview him and get a tour of innovative said place.
Their chemistry was so good, the “meet cute” was perfect, I mean, who wouldn’t want an instant connection with someone?
I loved Archer with all my heart (as to all Harrison’s heroes) and the fact that he had problems with feelings but changed every time he was with Layla… 😭
Oh I have not told about the suspense part! And I won’t. Because that’s the beauty of this book (beside the romance)❤️. I’m a true crime fanatic so when I saw the sign ups for Here Lies North I jumped at the opportunity.
Full of romance, spice, revelations and plot twists this is one heck of a book❤️
