WISDOM
Across Faith and At The Table
For Rev. angel it is long-since been crystal clear that the conversation needed to bridge the divides of today do not begin and end within our own in-group circles of family, favorites or faith. Even as she holds the terminology of "faith" lightly for herself, she honors the deep meaning it holds in the human psyche. She set out with intention to reach back to members of faith communities other than her own: hetero, Christian, White, wealthy, male — wherever she sees the opportunity to expand the view of so-called "other" in herself by engaging difference, she's in for it.
Challenging our own communities to do the work of healing, while also engaging meaningful dialog and collaborations across boundaries of faith & favoritism is essential. How else to heal and transform a nation increasingly going beyond the duality of "bi/either/or" and characterized instead by "multi-" and "trans-"?
Catch the on-fire dialogue during the Revolutionary Love Conference 2018: Rev. angel and Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, The Canon Theologian and Episcopal priest at the National Cathedral, as they DISRUPT the status quo of a Christian-only narrative. Next, take a seat in historic Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, as Rev. angel honors the legacy of Howard Thurman, Professor of Christian Theology, delivering a sermon explaining “When Our Backs Got Against The Wall". At All Saints Episcopal Church, honoring the 400th anniversary of the enslavement of African peoples in the US, Rev. angel gives a framework to Unlearning the Ways of the System.
