VISION

v i·sion /ˈviZHən/: the ability to think about or plan the future with Wisdom & Imagination (and don't forget Love and Liberation).

JUSTICE
Sitting for Justice

It is tempting to imagine that THIS is the point at which justice will be most served, whether that is the frontlines, confronting history, voting, political advocacy, direct feeding of the poor, or inspiring people to move from apathy to action.

Rev. angel knows that the many gates are One. She makes a practice of locating herself at as many different points as she can — with a hearty sense of balance that includes herself as one that deserves rest and care. Rather than seeing it as "this will make all the difference," she sees it as "this might make some difference, and in the process, I will learn about the difference between what I imagine and what is real for people. I will have a relationship to their truth — whoever "they" might be — that confronts, comingles, contradicts, and eventually transforms my truth. This is Transformative Change."

She engages both strategy — connecting in spaces where showing up fills in more blank spots of her own views — and leverage — settling in where her presence might amplify awareness and inspiration, perhaps just by being the unexpected voice. She is at turns fierce and vocal, and a steady, clear, calm. Not walking in one Way, but many, through gates that lead back to justice.

"Love and justice are not two" is one of Rev. angel Kyodo williams' most famous quotes -- hear her talk more about it on The Astral Hustle podcast with Corey Allen, at her east coast spiritual home, Brooklyn Zen Center where Buddha meets Buddha, and in relating it to Diversity and Inclusion at one of Thich Nhat Hahn's communities.

Want more on how to make radical change toward JUSTICE happen and Love Everyone in the process? Rev. angel talks with Sharon Salzberg about political activism and spiritual practice, their interplay, and what they bring to one another.  Auburn Seminary's Senior Fellows is a small group of influential faith leaders who bring justice-centered faith into the public square to help meet, head-on, today’s most pressing challenges. Read the Washington Post article about how this group has been quietly Organizing The Religious Left.

GET

GET when you GIVE towards JUSTICE

In a monumental talk—knowing it to be the last public talk of 2019 the 400th year from the beginning of African peoples being enslaved on this land—Rev. angel opens a new avenue of her discourse on justice by addressing the necessity of the work of emancipation — "getting out of the hand that binds" — from the system. Without such work, we are not free enough to even recognize the path of liberation. Compliments of loveStream.

Give generously. Get generosity in return. (Receive by December 28.)
