Remember this eye-catching red building along Maxwell Road? It used to be a popular photoshoot location for tourists, wedding couples and social media enthusiasts. It is also a conserved heritage building. #DoYouKnow that the place is now home to Maxwell Chambers Suites? It is an expansion of the neighbouring Maxwell Chambers, a one-stop shop for dispute resolution services. #SGFolkLaw Credit: Courtesy of the National Archives of Singapore

We want to hear from you 📢 MinLaw and Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) are seeking views on the situations in which people should be allowed to access copyrighted materials for legitimate uses without being restricted by access control measures. Looking forward to your comments before 19 May 2024: https://lnkd.in/gjz5Xd_7
[Public Consultation] Need access to copyrighted works for legitimate and non-infringing uses but unable to do so due to technological means? We want to hear from you! Under Singapore’s copyright legislation, there are temporary exceptions that allow access to copyright works and protected performances restricted by such technological measures, known as access control measures (ACMs). These expire at the end of this year. Should the existing exceptions (such as for educational uses) be retained and are there other scenarios which may require exceptions? Share your feedback with us at https://lnkd.in/gjz5Xd_7. The consult will end on 19 May 2024. #PublicConsultation #Copyright #CopyrightAct #IntellectualProperty

Spaces play an important role in our community. At the Committee of Supply debate 2024, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Law Rahayu Mahzam shared MinLaw and Singapore Land Authority (SLA)’s plans to repurpose spaces and leverage geospatial technology to improve lives. #ForwardSG #SGBudget2024
I spoke at the Committee of Supply 2024 debate about how Ministry of Law, Singapore’s work benefits Singaporeans and our economy through optimising State assets, leveraging geospatial technology, and supporting the community through the criminal and civil law systems. Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has been repurposing spaces to serve the community’s needs and promote social good, such as The Foundry at 11 Prinsep Link as a hub for social purpose organisations. We are also making good progress in tapping on geospatial technology to improve the use of our land and supporting national needs such as urban planning and flood mitigation. In addition, MinLaw is continuing efforts to ensure access to justice for more Singaporeans. With the increase in household income, we will be updating the means test thresholds to enable more to receive civil legal aid and criminal defence aid. On behalf of MinLaw, I would like to thank all our stakeholders, volunteers, and partners for dedicating their time and energy to support our objectives. Our work is only possible with the strong pro bono and public spirit of our legal fraternity.
