ARC received for an honest review

Oy, where do I start with this one?

I am sorry to say that whereever it starts, it is not going to be good.

From the first "whoops I f*&ked the wrong brother" to the end, this was one giant eyeroll.

I should have DNF'd it when I first thought it, but no, I thought it had to get better - spoiler alert, for me it didn't.

Naomi was just completely unlikable. I hated the way she dragged both brothers into her dramas and strung them both along.

I hated that Paxton was a doormat for everybody.

I hated that Patrick was a spoilt, entitled jerk (but at least he finally get his crap together at the end and removed his head from his sphincter).

The dads were just deplorable.

Have you guessed yet that I hated everyone?

The whole thing was immature and frustrating and eyeroll-worthy.

Let's hope that Twin #2 Patrick's story is better.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this author for as long as I’ve been reading her work. I’ve read a lot of her work and most I haven’t had the inclination to review because *shrug* but here we are … I’m a blogger now so …

I like to think that I’m a constructive reviewer and present the facts to you in an unbiased way 100% of the time, but those odds are impossible to maintain because sometimes, a storyline is just baffling, and I have zero words. Well, I don’t have zero words, but I’m struggling.

For me, this book got read to the finish, because I’m not missing a single moment of the True North World in any way. It’s a decision I made when this world was announced and I’m sticking to it. I don’t understand the majority of choices the author made with this storyline. Was there someone to like? Was there a thing I was supposed to root for? If there was, I completely missed it. There was also the New Adultaspect of the story. N/A romances have come a loooong way in the last 5 to 8 years. There was a time I would have told you that I’d rather stick an icepick in my eyeball than read any romance between people in their early 20s or late teens, because sweet mother of peter that age group is like nails scrapping down a chalkboard. They love their miscommunications, eyeroll inducing behavior, secrets and more miscommunications and did I say eyeroll inducing behavior *le sigh* And it’s totally legit, sometimes. I mean most 20-year-olds know nothing of the world and of consequences, for the most part, so when they act a fool, it is totally legit. HOWEVER, it doesn’t have to be that way. And that’s the choice a good chunk of authors have made in the last decade. That’s why I say they’ve come a long way. Jamie didn’t make that choice *sad face*

Gametime was one giant nail scrapping down a chalkboard for me and it killed my spirit. I’m not going to harp away at details because I already said I don’t understand the choices made here so I’m just going to exit stage left now … k,bye.

Book #4 in the Moo U series.

Naomi + Paxton.

Paxton has been in love with his good friend Naomi for two years.
But she's been crushing on his twin brother for just as long.
After having way too much alcohol one night - very untypical for Paxton - he ends up in bed with Naomi.
For Paxton it was the most amazing night of his life with the love of his life.
For Naomi ... well ... she thought she spent the night with Patrick. Whoopsie.

They decide to stay friends and not let this night destroy things. But suddenly Naomi is not constantly thinking about Patrick anymore ....

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN! ☺

Well, that was cute and sexy.

But ... I didn't like it very much. 😟
I was almost tempted to end this in the first chapter already.
I don't even know why. It was so ridiculous and unimaginative and silly and immature and ugh. And I hated the dads! And a boob job at 17?! Disgusting.

It could have been my mood today. And maybe the super beautiful book I had just finished reading before. That's why I kept on reading - I didn't want to be unfair to the book.
And it got better - at least a bit. It was still too frustrating and immature.
But it ended up being a bit adorable, very sexy, college-y and hockey-y.
I enjoyed reading it. We just started out on the wrong foot.☺
It still won't go on my World of True North favorite list though.

But still - I could read these kinds of books every day for the rest of eternity!

I also wouldn't mind seeing this whole world on Netflix one day!

Can't wait to get more Vermont soon! I hope Patrick's story will be better!

GAMETIME was a sexy little hockey college romance! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Paxton - he'll be sold out in no time!

Uffda.

I was so intrigued by this storyline. It had so much potential for me. I feel like there was a way to make this an angsty, emotional story that like...consumed my heart.

Unfortunately, that's not what happened.

I just kept finding myself distracted by Naomi's behavior. I was questioning the kind of friend she was, much less the kind of person she was. I almost felt like there wasn't enough groveling, not enough sensitivity to the wounds she inflicted on Pax who - if she was truly as close to him as we were led to believe - she would already have been sensitive to his feelings and his issues, much less able to distinguish him from his twin.

I don't know. I think there were some maturity issues with - gosh - so many people in this story. Pax, Naomi, Patrick, the dads (allll the dads) - they all suffered some likability issues due to their lack of maturity. I struggled to stay connected while everyone meddled in everyone else's business and Pax and Naomi steadfastly refused to get out of their own way. All of this was distracting from the romance which - on top of all my other struggles - seemed to be more of a physical connection than an emotional one and...ugh. This just wasn't what I had hoped it might be.

In the end, I skimmed a fair amount of the story hoping that at some point it would really grab me by the heart and start squeezing. There were moments where I felt sucked back into the story, but overall this was unfortunately not my favorite of the Moo U series so far. ~ Shelly, 2 Stars

Loved it!!

Paxton Graham and his twin brother, Patrick, play hockey at the Moo U. They are good enough to be chosen at the first round of the draft by two excellent NHL teams before they even finish college, but Paxton has to make some changes in his way to play if he wants to go pro at the end of the year.
Naomi Smith is a student at the Moo U and like the 99% of the girls on campus she has a crush on Patrick. She is ecstatic when a night during a party she finally gets to kiss him and later to go home with him, until the next morning she wakes up in the bed next to her friend, Patrick’s identical twin brother, Paxton.

This is the start of a journey of growth, self-discovery and self-confidence for both our main characters.
I really liked Paxton and Naomi, they try to be there for each other even when it hurts and it causes even more confusion.

I can relate to Paxton to some extent, because I’m my sister’s shadow and it’s really difficult to change some dynamics. I was so happy for him when he tried and succeded to see his real potential and worth. I cheered for him to finally find his place in the world and shine.

I hope to see Paxton wearing the Sockeyes jersey in one of Jami Davenport’s upcoming books.

Gametime is a standalone book but I suggest you to also read Patrick’s story in Overtime.

Ridiculously shallow and just went round in circles.

I actually liked Pax much better when he was mentioned by the other authors in the series. Right now I don't like Pax or Patrick at all.

The timeline of the series was also really confusing in this book and didn't seem to fit with the others

First book in this series I've really not enjoyed at all.

HOW? HOW ARE PEOPLE GIVING THIS MORE THAN 2 STARS? Naomi is literally the worst female character I have ever read about in a book and I couldn’t get past how much my dislike for her built up. I really kept reading thinking the book it would slowly get better and I wouldn’t hate the characters so much, but nope, just bad bad bad. First off, everyone loves an underdog, so Pax is not the worst part of this book, but his mood swings definitely are. Patrick’s an entitled jerk. And Naomi, Naomi, NAOMI. I cannot comprehend that she’s supposed to be a main character. She’s shallow, annoying, indecisive and just plain boring. I wish she got a beat down from kaitlyn. And another HUGE turn off was just how hot and cold Pax and Naomi are.
Also, just bad bad bad writing. I’m so unhappy with how this book turned out. I’m so mad I can’t even write a review about all the things I dislike about this book. Jeez

I inhaled the first three Moo U books and then jumped on the chance to get advanced reader copies of the next four. But in between then and now my goldfish memory kicked in and I kind of forgot everything and everyone until I started reading. Then I was right back there and madly crushing on Paxton.

Each of these books are standalones with crossover characters set in the same time and place. And I'm loving getting to read some new authors but I'm especially loving getting to know each character from a different perspective. This has been the ultimate example of everyone is the main character of their own story. Because I am learning how wrong my assumptions are when it comes to each character.

I went back and forth so hard with Naomi and Paxton. They made so many stupid miscommunication errors and jumped to conclusions and I wanted to smack them. Then I would remember they are college students and both of them had so many outside influences pushing them in different directions and I would forgive them.

This book was a great addition to the series and I'm absolutely loving being in the True North world. But right now I am diving straight into Patrick's book because as much as I didn't like him for the first three quarters of this book, I do love watching a man whore fall.

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This reviewer has taken a front seat on the ride that is the Moo U Hockey series in Sarina Bowen’s Heart Eyes Press’s (whew that was a mouthful) World of True North. Revisiting the newest generation of Burlington University’s hockey team makes for some great reading and some serious swooning. Gametime by Jami Davenport finally introduces us to Paxton Graham, one half of the Graham twins. In earlier Moo U stories, I’ll be honest...I thought the Graham twins, Paxton and Patrick, were, for lack of a better word, man-hos. And we find out quickly that, at least Patrick is. However, Davenport allows us entry into Paxton’s story where we find out that he has had an unrequited crush on his best girl-friend, Naomi, since freshman year. Unfortunately, Naomi has only had eyes for Pax’s twin, Patrick.

Well, Gametime begins with the biggest misunderstanding. After a night of some serious drinking, Naomi mistakes Paxton for Patrick, and they sleep together. In the morning, all is revealed, and Naomi and Paxton struggle to regain the nature of their friendship as Paxton develops deeper feelings while Naomi’s eyes are opened. This is the foundation of Paxton and Naomi’s journey. Now, add to that journey two fathers whose expectations for their children muddy the issues between Paxton and Naomi. Add to that a strained relationship between twin brothers as Paxton is encouraged to step out of his brother’s shadow. There are lots of plot threads with this story that hit on ideas about unrealistic parental expectations, realizing one’s full potential, and staying true to yourself when others expect more from you.

And all of those messages are worthy ones. As Paxton and Naomi wrestle with all of these issues, you can see the depth of love between these two. What Davenport has done well with Gametime is show two young adults living their best lives together. There is definitely chemistry between Naomi and Paxton. Even more, I like Paxton as a foil to his brother, Patrick. It’s fun to read about characters, who have been ancillary in other stories, gain their own space, and as we have seen in other Moo U books, Paxton has been an encouragement to his teammates and, in many ways, empathic and cerebral. Honestly, of the two brothers thus far, I would align myself with Paxton any day.

Now, the difficulty of Gametime is Naomi. I hate to say it because I adore heroines, especially when they are drawn well. In my opinion, Naomi is difficult to like. This comes in the shadow of Kaitlyn who was not a female character I could support, but her characterization in another Moo U book allows for the reader to move past her nastiness in a former story. This isn’t the case for Naomi, though. For much of Gametime, Naomi’s choices and actions are inconsistent with her growing adoration of Paxton. Yes, I know that she lives with the actions of her own father which cause her to have some self-esteem issues, but until the very end when she makes a grand gesture (one that will make the reader smile), I actually don’t want her with Paxton. I think he’s too good for her. Therein lies the issues with Gametime for me. There is a lot of inconsistency with character development, and the heroine, Naomi, isn’t the most impressive heroine I’ve read in romance.

Thankfully, as I mentioned above, it’s the end of Gametime that pulls it all together. Even more, if you’ve invested in time or money in the Moo U world, then you will want to read Paxton’s story. The Graham twins have played significant parts in the stories of the other hockey players. To miss out on Paxton’s story is to miss out on a big part of the Moo U world.

It’s Gametime🏒

Gametime is the latest story by Jami and set in the Sarina Bowen world of Moo U. I have to be honest here and say I’ve never read anything in Sarina’s “world” but I really love all of Jami’s books and this one was simply spectacularly done....it flowed well and is well written, the characters were well developed and likeable and the story sucked me in❣️I have to say I think this story might be her best yet😍

Paxton is one of an identical twin and he has feelings for Naomi, but it appears she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings as she is pining after his twin Patrick😢However, a case of mistaken identity and a night between the sheets might make her see there is more to Pax than she first thought😜

I can’t wait to try more of the stories in this series and I really enjoyed this one. I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

Gametime by Jami Davenport is the fourth interconnected standalone in the MOO U series (connected to Sarina Bowen's World of True North universe) and I was so freaking excited to get my hands on Paxton Graham's story. Truth be told, I have wanted his story ever since we met the Graham twins in the previous MOO U books and let me just say that this author did an phenomenal job bringing his story to life. This friends-to-lovers romance with a drunken case of mistaken identity will set your heart on fire and leave your heart broken when Paxton discovers that the girl of his dreams actually thought that she was hooking up his brother.

Paxton "Pax" Graham and Naomi Smith have been friends for awhile. While Pax has been secretly crushing on Naomi, she has been crushing on his identical twin brother, Patrick. When they hook up one night at a party, he just assumes that she FINALLY realized that he was the one for her, only to have his dreams shattered the next morning when she admits to thinking that he was his brother. Trying to salvage their friendship, Pax does everything in his power to forget that night and move forward, even if it means helping the girl of his dreams snag his brother. But soon enough, sparks and feelings begin to fly and things are no longer as they seem.

This story will have your head spinning and your heart swooning as you devour this story. Jami Davenport is a new to me author and I absolutely love the opportunity to get to know new authors through the MOO U series. These author have all done an extraordinary job connecting these stories and giving them a similar feel so that it truly feels like they belong to one world. Her story was a great addition to this series and I can't wait to read more of her words as I dive into more of her books.

2.5
Ugh it really pains me to rate this a three but I couldn't in good conscience give it anything higher. I honestly think it was a case of the "It's not you, it's me" for the trope. That or I'm just getting older and now that I'm not actually in college and haven't been in some time I can't handle as much of the hot shot sports swagger/ college party and hookup scenes like I used to. Mainly though, I couldn't get over the fact that Naomi slept with the wrong twin (WHO WAS ONE OF HER BEST FRIENDS) and didn't know it until she woke up and licked her way down to his tattoo that was obviously Paxton's hockey number and not Patrick's and the two got to live in that awkward moment together. From then on I was like nope--no thanks, lol. I really think most people will like this one. I still obviously loved seeing Paxton's journey coming out of Patrick's shadow and his work with Garf (lol love that guy) to become the best player he can be and prepare for the pros. I loved seeing grumpy ass Kaitlyn, sweet, loyal Lex, and the rest of the team, too. I just really couldn't be convinced by Paxton x Naomi.

Huge thanks to Heart Eyes Press for allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

4 Star Review Gametime (Moo U #4) by Jami Davenport

Gametime is set in Sarina Bowen’s Moo U world. This is a friends to lovers story about about Paxton and Naomi. Paxton has been in love with Naomi for years but she sees him as a friend and has feelings for his twin brother Patrick.

All that changes one night after a few too many drinks when Paxton and Naomi spend the night together, however Paxton is devastated when he learns that Naomi believes she was with Patrick.

I had a hard time relating to this couple, particularly Naomi. Paxton appeared to let everyone walk all over him and that really frustrated me. Having said that it was great to see Paxton finally emerge from his brother’s shadow towards the end. Patrick wasn’t easy to like either but he grew on me by the end of the book and I am looking forward to reading his story.

Gametime by Jamie Davenport is the fourth novel in the Moo U series.

Paxton was okay living his past in his identical twin brother’s shadow. He was okay just passing the puck and watching him score time and time again; and then one night everything changed when his best friend, Naomi, came and sat next to him at a party. That one night, he held all of his dreams in his arms when he held Naomi.

One night of passion quickly died when Naomi realized the tattoo on her new beau’s hip wasn’t the jersey number that matched her long running crush’s jersey number. This number matched her best friend’s number……oops. Now Naomi can’t seem to wipe the night from her head. It’s in every thought and every longing glance. She no longer sees Patrick as the man she wants, It’s Paxton and the way his body felt against hers that haunts her dreams.

After Paxton realized Naomi’s case of mistaken identity, it lit a fire under his ass. A fire that has him realizing he no longer wants to be Patrick’s shadow. He wants his own NHL career and with the help of a very out there coach and the power of a crystal, he’s about to claim the life he never reached for.

My Thoughts:

When I first read the blurb for Gametime I was intrigued as hell! I never read a novel where a woman hooks up with one twin and thinks it’s the other she’s with….. I like to read outside of the normal and my attention was caught.

…..Well, that happened…… pretty much sums up my entire thought process throughout this novel. I wanted to love this one, sadly though, I never crossed that line from like to love. And it comes down to the maturity level of the characters and the cringe worthy morning after that started it all. So let’s get into all the highs and lows.

Paxton is a man with a gentle heart and hidden desires. He yearns for things he told himself long ago he can’t have. He has serious confidence issues and it all stems back to the past and how poorly his father treated both Paxton and his brother Patrick. Nobody was ever able to see Paxton true worth, because he was always pushed to the side so his brother wouldn’t be over shadowed. I liked how Paxton grew a backbone throughout this novel. I liked how he put his worries of what everyone would think to the back burner and he went for his dreams. I loved watching him slowly gain his confidence and for once put himself first. However, beneath the surface there was always a hint of vulnerability with him. This brought a high level of humanity to his character, and I appreciated and loved that trait.

On the other side of the scale we have Naomi. To be honest, I didn’t really care for her character. I felt her maturity levels were underwhelming for a college student. Her personality was a bit wishy washy. There were moments when I felt connected to her character, but then something would come in and sever that connection. It all came down to her inability to make up her damn mind about who she truly wanted. I hated the back and forth denial. Who in their right mind would want to date a manwhore when you have a genuinely good guy standing right in front of you. I needed her to grow a backbone where her father was concerned, because the root to all of her problems always came back to her dad and her fear of further disappointing him.

And then we have the relationship between Paxton and his twin brother Patrick. The bond between the twins was unbreakable, until Paxton started to shake things up and started to live for himself. The growing pains were hard to watch, but in the end it had to be done and I think deep down they both knew they couldn’t be each other’s crutch any more. My heart broke for these two brothers and the rift between them.

I had a hard time rating this novel. I loved Paxton and all he went through to get to where he is today. All the struggle when it comes to putting himself first really touched my heart, but I was underwhelmed by the rest of the novel. I decided to rate this one 3 stars because of my love for Paxton’s character and the connection I felt to his character.

Overall, I liked Gametime but sadly, this one didn’t cross the line from like to love. I needed more chemistry between Naomi and Paxton. Don’t get me wrong the sexy times were scorching but I needed more from them outside of the bedroom….or fraternity laundry rooms… or in front of hotel room doors. I needed more to strengthen them emotionally as a couple. I am, however, intrigued to dive into Jami Davenport’s Seattle Sockeyes hockey series!! I am really curious to see what she brings to the table with these novels!

Books, Coffee & Passion

3.5 stars

This book starts with the mistaken identity situation right away and it was a very awkward beginning. Don’t get me wrong, it did get much better as the story progressed but I think it would’ve been smoother if it started before. If I had read about Pax and Naomi’s friendship first, I might’ve been more invested in the characters when they had their drunken night together. I think that was the reason it took me a while to like Naomi.

Anyway, Paxton was a great character. I was rooting for him from the start, especially because it was so easy to see how in love he was with Naomi. He was sweet, hot, smart, selfless and so talented! He was dealing with a lot of stuff and my favorite part of the story was his character development. As a hockey fan, I was invested on his hockey journey and his growth as a player. The emotional part in it, the struggle between being a team player and revealing his own talent, was beautifully done. I think that at times the drama between him and Patrick, his twin brother, was too much but I still loved how Paxton was finally fighting for what he wanted in his career.

Naomi was a different story. I struggled to like her and, for the most part of the story, I didn’t think she deserved Paxton at all. Actually, there was a point where I thought that she and Patrick deserved each other, that’s how mad I was with her. Fortunately, I did end up understanding her motivations, her reasons and her insecurities. Her dad’s pressure combined with her conflicted feelings made a lot of her actions made sense. I liked how she progressed, how she slowly started to care less about what others expected of her and how she focused on being herself.
The mutual pining after their drunken night together was really well done! Also, Paxton and Naomi’s chemistry was amazing too and I loved how they struggled to resist each other after one night together. The ending felt a little too fast after a certain event, I wish we had a little more time with these two.

Gametime was an entertaining, enjoyable, steamy, angsty read. Even though I was mad with Patrick through most of this book, I’m very curious about his book coming next.

I really wanted to enjoy this more than I did. Something just felt really off to me. The idea of it was interesting enough and I think I could have enjoyed this more had the characters not made some of the decisions they made. Seriously, nothing Naomi or Pax did made any sense to me. I was serious baffled by their decisions and a lot of their thoughts revealed in their inner monologues. It was honestly just an infuriating story to read.

This book begins with a huge uh oh moment! It takes some time for Pax and Naomi to even get to a happy point in their relationship. It is hard to see the injustice thrown at Pax and the sadness he holds. Though I love how things end for Pax and Naomi it was a long road. Pax is getting it from all sides a strained relationship with Naomi, his brother, his father and eventually his team. Pax’s growth came with a lot of growing pains. So glad to see him find his HEA

Gametime by J. Davenport is a stand-alone and book four in the MOO U Series.
Paxton is a hockey player at his college. Together with his twin they're the new stars. But they couldn't be more different from each other.
Paxton has a crush on Naomi. Only she rather wants to be with Patrick, his twin.
Put a ons in the mix and everything becomes more complicated.
Paxton is a good guy, but Naomi isn't my favorite character at all.
But the writing is good and I was in the story. All in all a 4,5 stars read.

This was a lot of drama.
I was excited for the twin’s books but I am kinda disappointed if I am being honest. It felt like sibling rivalry and that was not the impression I got from previous books.

That right there put a damper on this book for me. Add in the drama and what is it with all these parents in these books butting their noses in on their adult children it is all very odd.
I took a break from this series and listened to a bunch of other books. But I really do want to finish this series so I think I will do one then something else see if that helps make the series not feel so childish.
The narration was great I do wish Emma Wilder wasn’t always cast for 20 ish females her voice is too rich and needs to be for 30-40 females where it can be appreciated.

While I really wanted to like this one, I just didn't. I was so curious to hear all about Patrick and Paxton and how their twin-ship would turn out on the page. While it was a struggle to read, that was not what made me not enjoy this read. I know readers are often hard on heroines, but I really could not connect with Naomi. Not for looks, or ideas or conviction, but how she kept jumping between them, seemingly after whatever would bring her the best outcome, while telling us how that's what her father wanted, and she did not. The jump from lusting over one guy to seeing the other, and back again caused me whiplash. However, Paxton wasn't much better, his thoughts and behaviour really seemed rather doormat-ish, and while it was his journey to try and change it, he seemed to either stick or get aggressive. All of that together really made me struggle to stick with his book. Here's looking forward to other books in the series.

This book is just one of a special Moo U hockey series written by a group of talented authors.

Paxton Graham is a part of the college hockey team as well as a drafted player for the Seattle Sockeyes. In his life his twin brother Patrick has always been placed on an upper pedestal by his dad, his coaches, his teammates, girls…. For once in his life he really wanted to be the one coming out on top. One night Naomi came over to him during a party, the girl he had been crushing on forever, which lead to an incredible night, he thought he had it made. Unfortunately the truth reared its ugly head the next morning when it was revealed he was the wrong win. Then the assistant coach advises him, he needs to start thinking about himself and his own career. While yes being a team player is good, it doesn’t mean giving everything to others. So he needs to stop concentrating on helping his brother score, even shoot more showing the Seattle Sockeyes who drafted him, that he was the best decision they made. The connection between him and Naomi seems to be going well too after that night. Will the world stay like this or will it come crashing down when things are not going the way they should be going both on the ice and off.

Naomi Smith is not only the daughter of an accomplished hockey player, she also was liked by everyone, getting decent grades and heading in the right direction. She has had a crush on player Patrick Graham forever, even her dad is trying to set them up together, so one night she decides to take a chance. It went so much farther than she every could imagine and was wonderful. But it isn’t Patrick when they wake up the next morning, its his twin brother and a good friend Paxton. But the magic of the night isn’t something she can easily forget and as she watches Paxton a little more closely she realizes maybe she had been too busy thinking about the wrong brother. Maybe Paxton isn’t the wrong choice, maybe he is the right one. Maybe she really needs to look at things differently and who she wants to be with. Even if it means taking a chance on heartbreak.

Both have been through a lot, losing their mothers at a young age, fathers not always looking out for their best interests and feeling a lot of pressure they shouldn’t have been. Together the two of them could be a match made in heaven but they just have to figure out how it is going to overcome all the odds and the opposition.

This book is written in a different way in that honestly not everyone will like it, you either do or you don’t. Could be the plot line, could be the sex, could be you are older and don’t like books set in a college time frame. Personally I liked it, now I will admit there are a few bits I skipped over at first, but when I went back to read it for a second time, it was fine. If you like hockey, like romance, don’t mind sex, and are okay occasionally wanting to smack the characters in the book for jumping to quick conclusions then it is the book to add to your reading list. I got an early copy of the book for my honest review.

I received a free copy through Heart Eyes Press in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

3 stars — I was really looking forward to Paxton’s story from the glimpses of him I’d had in other books, but I had a hard time connecting with him and Naomi.

I think part of the problem is that the writing style didn’t work as well for me. I think I’ve tried other books by this author, and we’re just not a match — so take that into account when reading this review. I don’t know how to describe it, like LEGIT have no idea how to describe it, but it doesn’t give me what I’m personally looking for.

Unfortunately I also didn’t connect with neither Paxton nor Naomi…at least not to the degree I would have liked. I kind of enjoyed the overall storyline concept, but in the end I didn’t feel enough for either of them. Paxton made some boneheaded choices with respect to his brother, and that willful non-communication just doesn’t work for me. I mean, if it was just at the beginning, fine…but it persisted way longer than it should. Paxton ended up coming across kind of juvenile as a result. Like, on a high level I understood his struggles, but I wasn’t impressed with how he dealt with things.

And Naomi…I don’t know if I really got to know her enough. She was very wishy washy, but that was supposed to be part of her story. I guess it’s that her journey was about finding out who she was outside of pleasing everyone else, and by the end of the book I still couldn’t tell you who she was. What was she even majoring in? Stats? I know she liked numbers, but what were her hopes with that?

As for the two of them together? Well, we end up getting steamy scenes RIGHT at the start — which is kind of necessary for the plot. But unfortunately I didn’t know either of them, so I wasn’t invested at that part. There was a lot of lust and physical chemistry between them. And I saw some of their friendship chemistry as well, but I think I wanted more.

Sorry for the blah review. I enjoyed the wrap up at the end, but it came so close to the end I almost wanted more. And Patrick is shown in a really poor light as well, so I’m wary for his book now. But it’s a different author, so we’ll see!

Gametime is a delicious new adult romance by Jami Davenport. Part of the Moo U multi-author series, this is a fantastic addition to the series.

First let me admit that I am a college sports romance junkie. I cannot get enough of this type of story. And this book is as fun as it gets.

I absolutely love and adore everything about Paxton and Naomi's story. It all starts off a little iffy for the two though, as Paxton finally gets his dream girl, but she thought he was someone else. Naomi crushed on Patrick for two years, but accidently slept with his twin, her best friend Paxton. Ouch!

Bad, right? Yes, it's definitely bad and a little awkward.

I'm not going to go into the details, but the fact that she thought she slept with Patrick, and that it's Patrick she's been crushing on, leads the story along.

I enjoy the way things develop for these two and everything they go through to get their happily ever after. They definitely work well together and are easy to root for.

Their story includes some awkward family dinners, unnecessary criticism, and plenty of verbal abuse.

Paxon's relationship with his twin is going through a rough patch for sure. It's tough reading all of this aspect. They struggle both on and off the ice. It definitely increases the angst. I admit, I struggle with Patrick myself. I want to sympathize with him a little, but it takes a long time to actually get to that point.

Not helping the situation is Paxon's father who pits the two against one another. He's a total ass who favors Patrick in every way and never hesitates to let Paxon know. It's sad, yet well illustrated.

And damn, they two are super hot together. I definitely enjoy the risky sex, and them actually getting caught. Hot!

Gametime is fun and riveting. I love this Jami Davenport read. I enjoy every moment of this created world and this couple. Now onto the next Moo U book!
