Working with Aviary Bridge Records Ltd.

Aviary Bridge Records is a multi-genre independent record label established in 2016. Through the years we have built a strong foundation that we believe will always be the base of what we do. Our main purpose has always been to release music we vibe with, regardless of quality or artist status. If we are feeling it, others will feel it too, right?

Along the way we split Aviary Bridge Records into multiple imprints to categorize the music we release and offer some guidance to our audience.
Aviary Night: Downtempo, Electronic, Future Garage, Experimental, Ambient, Psybient, Neo-LoFi, Trip Hop, Ambient-Hop, LoFi House, Deep House, Chillout, Chillstep, etc
Aviary Day: Instrumental Hip Hop (LoFi Beats, Chillhop, Jazz Hop, Boom Bap, etc)
Aviary Bridge: Visual story building projects

VIBA: Artist Development Program

In 2019 we experienced such a growth that we noticed it is getting more difficult to maintain the same level of commitment to all the artists we are working with. More artists means more work,
but also more questions. It takes a lot from us to keep up. Growing pains.
After some research we became aware that many of the questions we receive are of a similar nature. Therefore we decided to create this document to help you find the answers to most questions. But also to offer you guidelines to ensure our work together goes as smoothly as possible.

Please read carefully. If somehow some of your questions are still left unanswered, please feel free to reach out personally.

How do we work?
We schedule at least 4 weeks in advance, but preferably more.
For album and EP releases we preferably pick one or two promotional singles to help build an expectation for the album. This will vary with every release depending on the release-strategy we discuss together. We prefer Albums and EPs over regular singles!
All releases on Aviary Bridge Records Ltd. will be branded! This means that every artwork piece will host either the Bridge, Day or Night icon preferably in the top right corner. As we will be focusing on building the Aviary brand we are not willing to make exceptions to this rule. We feel this is an important and necessary step to create more brand awareness that in return will benefit you and anyone releasing with Aviary.
This also means that we’ve come to the point where we will have to decline submissions on a more frequent basis. We are no longer ‘just’ looking for quality and vibing music, but everything we will release has the brand in mind.
We prefer to work with artists that are looking for a homebase, rather than artists that hop from one label to the next. Our focus is curating art and presenting artists. Build a story around it.

Promotional Budget:
We have many different options to promote a release. We work with PR companies, illustrators, graphic designers, video editors, etc. Depending on the imprint it will be released on and the quality, accessibility and vibe of the music we are open to discuss strategies beyond regular distribution.
Any costs made will be taken from the gross receipts before any royalties are split. We will not ask you for money, but as results are not guaranteed you could end up not receiving any royalties. Know that when this happens, Aviary is probably losing money. The financial risk is ours, not yours.

Other services:

If you need help with mixing and/or mastering your music please contact Léon at (leon@aviarybridgerecords.com). We offer professional mixing/mastering at very low costs. We also offer help with artwork, mostly free but with special requests we will discuss potential costs as well as the timeframe.

Sending a demo to Aviary:
Please use the form on our website
https://www.aviarybridgerecords.com (currently inactive) or contact Joe directly at joe@aviarybridgerecords.com

We prefer a private link to SoundCloud as this simply is the fastest way for us to check your demo.

After acceptance:
Please follow these guidelines below to send over the files for a release (failure to do so may result in delays, lost files, unread emails/messages, mixups or even cancellation of your release).

Audio:                 Fully Mastered at -13 LUFS, peaking at -1dB

16 bit WAV 44.1kHz or higher
                Filename: “
artist name(s)” - “track title” (mastered)

Artwork:
Original or at least royalty free images

                Format: 3000x3000px (.jpg) or bigger.
Also include a version without text or if you have it, the workfile (.psd)

Document #1         Please download this PDF form and fill it out completely:                https://www.dropbox.com/s/zvxuqu4l9l1xo70/artist-form-new-jan-2021%20-%20Editable.pdf?dl=0

Put all the files from above into one folder and send it using a file-sharing service. We prefer WeTransfer, but also accept Googledrive, Dropbox, etc.

Royalties:
We work with a standard 50/50 split. Once per month we collect and translate all royalty data into an excel sheet that is set up on artist level. When the artist’s royalties reach $50 or more we will notify you about the exact amount we have reserved for you. You can then request a payout by invoice stating the exact amount you want to receive. Any amount not requested will remain reserved for you. We will keep it safe!
We receive royalty data on the first day of every month (DashGo) and on the 17th (Stem). All data will be translated between the 17th and the 20th of every month. You will automatically be notified before the 22nd of each month if and when you can request a payout. There’s no need to contact us, we will contact you! You are, however, free to request an update on the royalties we have accumulated for you if you are not receiving royalties on a regular monthly basis. Note that we are working with multiple distribution services, one that is not mentioned above only pays out quarterly.
* Please understand that finances are a very time-consuming part of running a record label. We are unfortunate that no one at Aviary likes doing finances. It is a necessary evil. We don’t have fancy (expensive) royalty apps either. But, we are strict, prompt and correct in this. Trust that the above system is in fact working. Thank you.
