Abby Anderson Returns To Pitt As Director Of Women’s Basketball Operations

PITTSBURGH – Pitt women's basketball head coach Tory Verdi has announced that Abby Anderson has joined his staff as director of basketball operations. Anderson will assist Verdi with overall logistics for the program along with planning and executing all team travel and activities.
 
"I'm excited to add Abby to our staff," said Verdi. "Her experience here at Pitt from last season allows us to hit the ground running. She will provide us with structure and organization that will enhance all aspects of our program."
 
Anderson is familiar with Pitt as she spent the 2022-23 campaign as the assistant director of recruiting for the Panthers. In her role, Anderson assisted the coaching staff in all aspects of recruiting including travel and official visits.
 
She joined the Panthers' staff after a successful collegiate playing career at the University of Scranton and Saint Francis College. She capped her career in 2021-22 at the University of Scranton where she led the team in scoring (17.6 ppg), rebounding (9.2 rpg) and assists (2.9 apg). As a graduate student, Anderson earned WBCA All-American and D3hoops.com fifth Team All-American accolades. She also garnered D3hoops All-Region and All-Landmark Conference First Team honors while leading the Landmark Conference in rebounding, ranking second in scoring and fourth in three-point shooting. She also earned WBCA Division III Senior All-Star Team and WBCA Ring of Honor recognition after her strong 2021-22 campaign.

Anderson played her first three years of college basketball at St. Francis Brooklyn from 2017-2020. For her career, she averaged 4.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 90 games (11 starts). She was a two-time member of the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll while also being the recipient of the 2019-20 Women's Basketball Team Coaches Award.
