A team member is resisting change in the workflow process. How do you effectively address their resistance?
When a team member resists change, start by understanding their perspective. In one case, I asked a hesitant team member to share their concerns, and it turned out they felt unprepared for the new process. By addressing their need for training and showing how the change aligned with team goals, they became more open. Framing the change as a shared opportunity, not just a directive, helps ease resistance. Sometimes, small wins—like letting them test the new workflow—build confidence and buy-in. Listening and collaboration are key to turning resistance into support.

Your cross-functional team has conflicting goals. How do you navigate the power dynamics?
Navigating conflicting goals in a cross-functional team starts with creating alignment. For example, in one project, we brought everyone together to map out how their individual goals fed into the broader mission. By highlighting shared objectives, we reduced the “us vs. them” mentality. Open dialogue is also key—encouraging team members to voice concerns ensures everyone feels heard. When power dynamics arise, a neutral facilitator can guide discussions to focus on collaboration over competition. The goal is to foster mutual respect and build solutions that benefit the whole team.

Your team is constantly clashing over misunderstandings. Can emotional intelligence bridge the gap?
Emotional intelligence (EI) is key to resolving team conflicts caused by misunderstandings. With self-awareness, team members can better manage their emotions and reactions, reducing tension. Empathy helps them see things from others’ perspectives, fostering understanding and minimizing assumptions. Clear communication, a core aspect of EI, ensures concerns are expressed thoughtfully and issues are addressed collaboratively. While building EI takes time and practice, it creates stronger connections, trust, and a team that works through challenges together.

Processes incorporated job analysis, interviews, observations, and bench marking to identify the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities of a doorman to develop a job description for a doorman within that specific building. The KSAs were then utilized in designing and identifying selection processes to improve selection and fit of job incumbents. These items were then combined with qualitative…
