Nashville, Tenn. – On a new collection of fabrics, designer Andra Eggleston has drafted what she describes as “a love letter to my mother.”
Her Electra Eggleston textile brand is this season unveiling the Rosa Collection – its third line of fabrics since the company was founded in 2015.
And while the first two collections paid homage to Eggleston’s father – renowned photographer William Eggleston, Rosa honors her mother “and her love for all things Spanish” I her latest collection Eggleston said.
She elaborated: “My mother was an undeniably nurturing and wise woman, with a wicked sense of humor and charm. She also had a deep love for Spanish culture, which was evident in her personal style, home decor, cooking and travels. The Rosa Collection is essentially a love letter to my mother, and celebrates everything about her, from her elegant and dignified presence to her eclectic and stylish sensibility.”
Rosa consists of seven fabrics made entirely of luxurious Irish linen plus six performance fabrics designed for outdoor use for a total 13 prints and colorways. With mostly intricate patterns and muted palettes, the collection signals an artistic departure from the brand’s signature bold, statement-making fabrics.
It was during a trip to Costa Rica four years ago that Eggleston first started sketching ideas. Inspired by the shapes that surrounded her, the Rosa collection is a mix of the distinct patterns found in the country’s traditional architecture and the more organic forms found in nature. The designer’s use of color – from subtle gradations of natural hues to dramatic color blocking – captures the interplay of light and shadow. The fabrics are at once tropical, sophisticated and “thoroughly imbued” with her mother’s essence.
Pillows, textile yardage and samples are now available for purchase via the Electra Eggleston website, and home design showrooms across the country.
