Joint Accountability

Talking about money can be awkward.

Our brand new Love Report reveals that the average couple argues about it at least five times a month.

We teamed up with love expert and 'Married At First Sight' star Paul Brunson on three free counselling guides to help couples broach the tricky topic.

The Love Report

From financial fibs to fair bill splits, our Love Report shows that money talk is contentious among couples.

We found that:

4 million people aren’t comfortable talking to their partner about money and that’s because:

  • It’s too awkward or too embarrassing

  • Their partner doesn’t like to talk about money

  • They earn more or less than them

Couples mostly argue about unnecessary purchases, energy bills, and overspending.

Research

These are the top five things people hide from their partners:

  • Debt

  • Savings

  • Buying themselves an expensive treat

  • Gambling

  • A salary increase

1 in 5 people in relationships feel their finances aren’t fairly split – mostly because they feel their partner isn’t organised with their money

2 out of 3 say the rising cost of living means they argue more about money

1 in 7 have even broken up with their partner because of money issues
