Rate this book
A sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance from USA Today bestselling author Harloe Rae where a billionaire CEO battles against a snarky redhead who has her own agenda.

“I’d say it’s nice to meet you, but I’ve never been a good liar.”
That’s his initial offense against me.
Don’t worry—there’s plenty more where that came from.

Landon Winters is colder than his last name suggests.
Cruel and callous too.
I'm certain he finds pleasure in making others miserable.

He’s a billionaire by his own making—not satisfied with simply inheriting a white collar and silver spoon.
Landon's arrogance is so thick I could choke on the stench alone.
He’s also responsible for gouging a jaded chip into my shoulder.

The only saving grace is never having to see him again.
Wishful thinking is a fickle beast.

My boss just announced that Landon is my latest client.
I’ll need to impress him or kiss my promotion goodbye.
Either way, this is my chance to get even.

Revenge is all I see.
The price for redemption is steep.
Landon will pay a small fortune in humiliation.
And I’ll walk away filthy rich in vindication.

It took me a while to get into this story, the physics and toxicity that surrounded the main characters had a very cold demeanour. I couldn’t connect with them as much as I wanted to.

For me, the author went too far with their banter and strategies to manipulate each other to the point that tired me. Up to 50% I had reached my limits and dnf it...

This is definitely the case of “it’s me and not the book”, the story was very well written, the characters were strong and determined and their banter was fantastic.

I received an arc for a honest review.

4.5 Stars. I was so excited when Harloe announced that she's writing an office romance, enemies to lovers. I love her books so much so I couldn't wait for it. Those banters was EVERYTHING!!! It got me laughing!!

Landon and Vannah was literally at each other's throat throughout almost more than half of the book. They're both good at what they do in their profession. Not willing to bow down to each other. Landon was looking to buy land in Minneapolis, and Vannah was put in charge to help Landon looked for the right place. But with Landon being someone who was a jerk, Vannah couldn't help it, but put him in his place. Those steamy scenes though, it's like Harloe totally went up a notch. Lol

There's no huge drama so if you love a laid back enemies to lovers, pick this one up!!!

Absolutely loved! I couldn’t put this book down! Vannah is super funny and quick on her hilarious comebacks when dealing with Landon and his boorish ways. They have a love/hate relationship (more hate than love) that just makes their story all the intriguing as it unfolds.

The hate is fierce in this enemies-to-lovers office romance! Vannah and Landon will make sparks fly as their hate transforms into a sizzling connection. You are going to LOVE hating him!

Vannah is young, successful, and driven in her career. She's assigned a new client that could put her right where she wants to be. However, she never anticipated him. That man that she briefly met at a wedding, who pushed her every button (and not in the good way), is her new client. Her goal just got a whole lot harder.

Landon is successful but ruthless. The man is relentless in his pursuit of anything that he wants whether it's business or personal. He knows he's at the top and he expects most people to fall at his feet. He's met his match with Vannah because she bends for NO ONE.

He's jaded from a prior relationship. She still believes in love but not with him. The banter and the push and pull between these two is SMOKIN' HOT! Landon makes his intentions known in his pursuit of Vannah but she is going to fight him at every turn. Mixing business with pleasure is a no-no, but when lines begin to blur, crossing that line becomes inevitable.

The author will give you characters you will love and hate in equal measure. The transformation as their relationship develops will have you pulling for them. Landon becomes a man you can picture your forever with and Vannah gets to live her dream. Their story is steamy and riddled with snark, a strong heroine who never backs down, and a CEO that will be brought to his knees. You'll love this sexy office romance. A Must Read!

Feisty, Funny, Sexy, Unputdownable! I something like ADORE this sassy new book from Harloe Rae. The banter is wicked, the hero is SWOON, and I want Vannah to be my bestie. Don't miss this one--FIVE STARS!

Really enjoyed this!! I think Harloe does enemies to lovers exceptionally, and they literally always become my favorite books of hers.

The only reason for my 4 star instead of 5, is because I wish the heroine was just a bit more professional at times with the hero, especially because of how successful she is, I just thought she should be able to handle her emotions a bit better. Also, I think the growth for the hero happened a little too late and quick and I wish it was expanded on a bit more on.

Other than those, it was a great read, and I can't wait to see what else Harloe has in store for us.

By far my favorite Harloe Rae book!
I have had the pleasure of reading every single Harloe Rae works and loved every one of them.
Something like Hate is now my favorite. Snarky banter hade me laughing out loud while the story had me turning page after page.
If your new to Harlow, don’t miss a single one and I hope you enjoy this one as much as I have.

This book is so angsty and full of so much heat I loved every word! The wit and quick barbs from the hero and heroine where hilarious and kept me intrigued!

Vannah and Landon are quick witted enemies almost instantly but they both need each other for work purposes! Both with alternative motives they dive into a work relationship that implodes to more! I loved the fire inside Vannah and her take no crap attitude! It’s that attitude that lures Landon in but does the broody man have it in him to be what Vannah needs beyond work?

If you love a broody, jerk with a heart of gold and a sassy heroine who loves fiercely then this is a book for you!

Wow. Just wow. Harloe Rae has delivered another work of art with Something Like Hate.

Landon and Vannah are fire and ice that will set your kindle ablaze. These two are the epitome of everything I love about an enemies to lovers, banter filled romance.

Harloes attention to detail has you right there in the pages as though your living and breathing in the world she created. Each turn of the page has you feeling all the emotions from pure joy and laughter to wanting to ball your eyes out.

Five *5* stars for this masterpiece that is easily going down as one of my top reads of the year!

Sexy and intense

The hate is PALPABLE in this enemies to lovers romance, with so much snarky banter that you'll need to be fully caffeinated in order to keep up. I was wholly unprepared for the level of sexual tension - I loved the amount of dialogue and the sizzling chemistry, which absolutely jumped off the page. These two have a connection from the moment they meet, and it is hate and lust ever after. The only problem? The love wasn't nearly as convincing. One of my favorite things about enemies to lovers romance is the subtle shift into love, with those unexpected tender moments and the growth in intimacy. That's lacking here. There's a fine line between love and hate, but the transition is not entirely believable in this. I'd love to give this 5 stars based on the quality of the sexual tension, but there are a few things that didn't work as well.

The story follows Landon and Vannah, two near-strangers with plenty of friction. Their first meeting doesn't go all that well, and things don't improve when they meet again in a professional setting. Landon is a coldhearted businessman, but something about Vannah stirs up all of his emotions. As the two dance around their mutual attraction while playing a twisted cat and mouse game, neither one is sure what to think. Is it all just hate between them, or is there more brewing beneath the surface?

These two are FIRE fueled by hate. Their bickering/bantering is so quick and intense that you'll need to give the story your full focus - I actually had to read a few parts twice just to keep up with the pace. The dialogue is completely successful in building an excruciating level of tension, and I could feel the chemistry on every page (the steamy scenes are SIZZLING). I'm still not sure that I particularly liked either character though, and that's where this could've used more quiet moments. Landon is 100% alphahole and Vannah is his perfect complement, but we don't see much softness from either of them - at least until their jarring transformation towards the end. With a few more tender moments and a smoother transition from hate to love, I'd happily give this a 5-star rating. As it stands, this is a solid 4.

I truly love the enemies-to-lovers trope and was so happy to be approved to receive a copy of an ARC.
This is the first book I've read by Harloe Rae, but I have to admit, it took me a while to get used to her writing voice.

I really liked the premise of the story, but the banter between the protagonists was just so toxic, I thought I was going to lose a part of my soul just reading the schemes and lengths the characters were willing to go to in order to one-up the other.

I had to put the book down for a couple of days just to convince myself to give it a second chance and see where the author was going with the story.

I'm glad I did because it was definitely looking like it was going to be a DNF for me.

I absolutely HATED Landon Winters!
He was cruel, cold and conniving and the author did a fantastic job of making the reader hate him.
But, the reader doesn't know how diabolical he is until he deals his final blow to Savannah Simon that has her leaving him almost broken.

What you have to understand is that Savannah is no push-over. She's strong, smart, funny, and snarky.

She gives as good as she gets, but Landon is just so broken that he crosses a line that should never be crossed.

His journey to redemption with Savannah is what gives this book a 3-star rating and worth the read.

I'm glad I finished it, and now that I know what to expect in Ms. Rae's stories I look forward to reading more of her work.

What a scorching hot, wild ride Ms. Rae takes us on. Something Like Hate is a MUST read book. The dynamic between Landon and Vannah will have you burning through the pages. Their chemistry is hawt, their hate for each other is refreshing.

I've always loved Rae's broody and damaged Heros, but hot dang, her villains are something else. Landon effectively made me want to punch him in his too handsome face, and love all up on him at the same time. Gosh, he is such a brash, unapologetic, egotistical a$%. Falling in love with him and claiming him for my book boyfriend harem is a no brainer.

Sweet, sassy and scorching, Something Like Hate is a wild ride.

With an intense chemistry and quick rapport, the dynamic between Vanna and Landon is enough to set the page on fire. Vanna is the ultimate boss b*tch and my new girl-crush with her powerful snark and take-no-prisoners attitude. Landon's brash and abrasive personality made me want to punch him in the junk and kiss him simultaneously. This book is a battle fought and won and a hard earned victory and Vanna is definitely right - a reformed villain is so much better than a hero.

“I’d say it’s nice to meet you, but I’ve never been a good liar.” “Wow, okay.” I drop my arm. “That’s how it is?”

Harloe Rae is a new author to me. I love the enemies to lovers trope and this book sure excelled in it. The animosity and constant fights to win between Landon & Vannah were entertaining. They hated each other but they were also attracted towards each other and that's what made them land into a dangerous predicament. Both of them had strong personalities and when they clashed, there was a huge spark.

"This woman is an exclamation in a sea of useless periods and commas. Vannah’s personality is loud and brash without uttering a sound."

Savannah Simons works at a real estate firm. Her boss offers to promote her if she strikes and maintains a deal with their newly introduced investor and fortune 500 billionaire- Landon Winters. Landon & Savannah have a brief encounter at Savannah's cousin's wedding. Suffice to say, Landon doesn't leave a good impression on her and that results in the clash of their opinions. Landon doesn't believe in marriage and relationships after seeing his parents' marriage break apart. Savannah on the other hand is a hopeless romantic. She believes in love and wants to find someone who can commit. But a chance encounter with Landon as the potential investor in her company, Savannah has to convince him to go ahead with their deal.

“Listen, Lannie—” “Landon." “Whatever.” I wave off his interruption. “If we’re going to be stuck together, at least we can make it bearable.” His upper lip twitches. “I strongly disagree.”

Savannah had a strong personality. She was independent, fierce, sassy and could hold up on her own no matter how many times Landon tried to put her down. However it would have been great if we got to know something more about her character, her likes, dislikes and her past. In the first few chapters, the way she talked about her dad made me think that their relationship was strained but when the confrontation with her dad happened, I was shocked. He was such a cool guy and by the way he spoke with Savannah, it was clear that he loved her so much. Savannah's whole character revolved around bickering with Landon, going out with her best friends and having a little interaction with her mom. Other than that, none of the details about her life were revealed which made it hard to connect with her.

“Lust and loathing straddle a fine line, sugar. Love isn’t far behind."

The book was well written and the plot was brilliant but I have to admit that is was hard to like Landon. He was complicated, cold and closed off but I started to like him somewhere at 75%. The constant ploys that Vannah & Landon plotted against each other constantly left me questioning whether whatever was happening between them was real or not. They started sleeping together and then Landon pushed her away but quickly realised how stupid he'd been and rectified the situation. But somewhere I still feel that he didn't grovel a lot.
Overall, I can say that the book portrayed the enemies part really well but lovers? Not so much. Like when Landon expressed his feelings out of the blue, I couldn't really understand when exactly did he fall in love and what made him change his mind about marriage. Maybe if there was a genuine conversation without bickering between them where they really get to know each other, I would have liked the book more but unfortunately, that didn't happen smh.....

5 stars for Landon and Vannah

Nothing I love better than an alphahole and a strong woman who knocks him on his rear. As Enemies to Lovers go, these two are snarky and full of laugh out loud banter. I couldn't get enough of Landon and Vannah. Their chemistry is so passionate because of all the emotions these two bring out in each other. 5 stars for sure. Highly recommended!

2.5-3 ⭐'s

To be honest, I never thought these two would fall in love. They were so hateful to each other and always plotting the other's demise. So much so, that I had a hard time getting into the story and to finish reading it.

Then...there was a little glimmer but even with that, it was hard to have much hope.

Thankfully, the ending was sweet. I just think the "enemies" part went on for too long and was too strong.

omfg here we go again 🙄🙄another book with a strong start and immense amount of potential but midway belly-flopped 12 ft deep and i felt it in my abdomen ❤️

2.5/5 ⭐️ --> feeling generous

why did it have potential?

i loved this book when it started. it was enemies to lovers done right (or so i thought 🤨) they actually hated each other. and yes i did ignore the very obvious plot problems becasue their BANTER was everything:

exhibit A:
“And I suppose that’s why we fight so well.”
“I wouldn’t say we do anything well together. Nope,”
“Pity. I was beginning to believe you’d be worth the time it took me to unzip my fly.”

“I’d like you to be my personal real estate agent.” The title doesn’t suit this vixen before me. To be fair, I’m not sure limitations from any occupation could corral her fire. She’s meant to blaze trails far and wide—and get filthy rich doing it.

The characters 😘😘
I like that Vannah is a hopeless romantic on the inside no matter how realistic and strong she is from the outside. and she is very headstrong. Landon on the other hand, just confuses me. yes he was intriguing at the beginning but for someone who is supposedly smart af and a multimillionaire or billionaire his character is more suited to a high level employee. Like it doesnt justify his actions if he is such a hotshot. like why would you be so interested or even hands on with a realestat project that you can literally hire anyone else to do if you didnt "like Vannah" which he didnt at the time so its weird/ unatural for me.

PROS 😎😎
They are so good at being enemies. Like actually enemies. OOF that banter is off the charts !!

CONS 😐😐
-Around chapter 15 I was getting really restless tho. When are the feelings gonna convert?? When will the character development and feelings appear ??
-While they were biting each other with their words I had no idea when their “feeling developed” sure Landon mentioned some aspects of vannah that may point to him liking her but not much from her. So when they kissed for the first time it was like wat? do they even like each other ?? did i miss a chapter??
-And then the kiss was so “electrifying” that they get feelings?? That just cheapens the relationship development aspect for me.

The one thing that immensely confuses me is how tf are they having like a workplace romance but there “problems” have. Nothing to do with the fact that they're client-employee-boss ? Like HR HELLO??? how is it that easy and to not even be secretive about it ??

They took so long hating each other that when they got together it was so abrupt you didn’t know what you crossed a line.

And ironically the one scene I saw on tiktok (what made me read this book in the first place) was cringe af.
Imagine getting head from your sneaky link boss. Hes under the table and youre on his chair and another employee walks in and you literally ~O~WHILE LOOKING AT HIM ☠️ and he realizes what happened and walks out in embarrassment. HOW IS THIS SEXY?? ITS EMBARASSNIG. Woudve been better if shed acted better and they didnt get caught.
ALSO WHYY DID HE PROPSE MID SEX? 🤮🤮
like r u kidding me dude
“Repeat what you said. I need to know that you didn’t just propose with your dick still inside me.”

And as much as hateful banter turns me on, once they started doing the deed, it was just so cringe and unnatural. Like why is the billionaire tycoon putting up with a glorified real estate agent —his words— if he didnt feel for her. But even from his POV nothing indicated a hint of attraction until they BAM BAMED it. The story just didnt make sense at times

At the end of the day the writing just isn’t IT. It was soooo boringgg as if the words on the paper were meaningless cause I had no idea how tf the characters got to where they were. The plot was mixed like a jambalaya and i just needed it to end cause again BORINGGGGG 2.5/5 ⭐️#endings👏🏼 can👏🏼 make👏🏼 or 👏🏼break 👏🏼stories 👏🏼

⭐ 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩. ⭐

Landon and Vannah (short for Savannah).
Lannie and his Sugar.
The cold, grumpy CEO and the fiery, fierce real estate agent.

♡♡♡
“Listening to you argue is arousing as fuck, but hearing you shatter by my doing? That’s irresistible, sugar.”
♡♡♡

Gah! Holy hot damn and everything that is angsty, and unbelievably sexy rolled into one quick-witted, alphaholeness, sassy queeness romance I've eva, EVA, read. I LOVE Harloe. But this book??? Probably her steamiest and most viciously delicious romance to date. There was something about the animosity between these two that just fanned those flames so dang hard I almost felt like panting myself. Not ashamed, y'all, because that was 🔥🔥🔥. Ah! The anger, dislike, confusion, heat, competition, pride, lust, and emotions just bombarded me on every page. Sometimes it felt like too much but if even a WORD of this story had been shortened I would've been very angry because this has become MY story.

♡♡♡
He’s wild in the throes of passion, untamed and savage. This is a hidden version of the man not many will have the pleasure to meet. Sucks for them.
♡♡♡

I claim both Landon AND Vannah because I love them both. They were fire and ice. Heartless and hopeless romantic. Their banter made me feel like I was watching a ping pong match. Their passion stole the show. Their angst hurt my heart, but when that HEA rolled around, I realized this story wouldn't have been the same without it. Landon's character arc was superb and that alone made this book 5 coffees (among the infinite other things I loved about it). Harloe has outdone herself this time both with the plot and steam level and I could cry happy tears that I'm still here for everything she writes.

Harloe Rae is a new to me author whom I’ve never read before. This book is an enemies to lovers, which is a favorite trope of mine. There was no major drama and there were fun sarcastic moments between the two MCs.

I completely fell in love with these two along their bickering and back and forth. Vannah and Logan are just perfect together. The connection they share moves past all boundaries as it delves into the realm of soulmates. If you're into enemies-to-lover's romance, definitely pick this one up. Five stars for Landon, Vannah and Something Like Hate!

Landon is a harsh man who of course is well off. Vannah is a career goal women who has been assigned to help Landon find real estate. This sale can help Vannah career so she can't really fail but Landon is making her job really hard with his attitude. Vannah had first met Landon at a wedding now they are supposed to work together to find what he is looking for.

🛑 Warning: Spoilers Below!🛑
A billionaire and a bombshell, bad*ss realtor= 🔥 🔥 🔥
Welcome to The Haters Club!

At first I thought Landon was jerk, during their first meeting, but my opinion quickly changed as I got to read more of his POV. He’s guarded, and has every right to be. He needs someone with a backbone that can challenge him. Something Vannah is very capable of, Landon is made to eat his words by implying that she “slept her way to the top.” And that “she was after his money” Vannah is a shark, and a bad*ss! Can she break down the walls that Landon Winters has put up? She’s already gotten under his skin, and even he admits that he wants more from her.
This story was incredible, it sent me through a rollercoaster of emotions. From laughing loudly, to shedding a few tears. I honestly want to read it over again! This book has the perfect amount of banter and spice. Just when I thought Harloe couldn’t top how I felt about her book Loner, she far exceeded my expectations! Now I will be adding “Something Like Hate” to my favorites list!

Landon has seen his parents marriage end badly, so now he believes that it’s all marriages are charade and nobody will ever have a happy marriage, that’s why he’s jaded. He even states that he’s only get married when he’s old and it is in his “best financial interest”. (Hello character layers!) These two love to argue and both feel the need to have the last word. However, Vannah constantly challenges Landon and it just fuels his desires for her. If it were anyone but this red head, Landon would have fired them and immediately moved on. But something about Savannah Simons that keeps him coming back for more.

Savannah also has walls up, and it makes her uncomfortable when Landon is suddenly nice, and offers her the job of a lifetime.
At this point in the story, it’s clear that Landon has met his match, calling Vannah into a meeting on a weekend that he didn’t even need her at, but her response to that 👏. It just starts off all of the pranking. However, Savannah refuses to back down and is matching this beast hit for hit, all because she doesn’t like how Landon treats people.

Half way through and I’ve literally laughed out loud many times due to their banter. (The part with Chanda, omg, made me laugh so hard I had tears)
Vannah’s friends are starting to get worried, at who Vannah is becoming during all of this. And you can tell they’re wondering how far Sav is willing to go just to teach “Lannie” a lesson. Only for him to show up during their meal, and holy fireworks! After a steamy make out sesh, Landon drops that bomb that Sav will be going to Chicago with him. On the plane ride, you find out a glimpse of why Landon is the way he is, and has locked his heart away, all those years ago.

Landon is willing to do whatever it takes to wow Savannah to get her to fully except his offer and leave Brogan Reality. However, soon realizes that she’s tearing down his walls. He puts them back up, and in the process breaks both of them.

Can Landon fix the damage he’s caused and win Vannah’s heart and trust again? You’ll have to read “Something Like Hate” to find out for yourself!

You will be sent on a roller coaster ride with these two. The heartbreak that I felt with both of them. This is a must read!!!

If I thought Rae's heroes were the bomb, I’ve never been more wrong. Her villainous hero, Landon Winters, is a nuclear explosion that decimates the reader's heart, and I’ll never be the same!

This guy. Gah! Never have I hated and loved a hero in equal measure. Okay, it took a while to get to 50% love, but by the end, I was 100% Team Landon.

Mr. Big Shot Billionaire doesn’t have a nice bone in his body. He demands and intimidates and makes money hand over fist. He thinks a marriage is a business contract with someone he can benefit from. With all these ingrained and so misguided opinions and rules that govern his life, he's in for the shock of his life when he goes up against Vannah Simons.

Vannah is a corporate real estate broker who can handle anything. One look at her new client, Landon Winters, and she knows she'll have to up her game. She'll have to fight fire with fire. Buckle in tight for lots of snark, sass and besting the enemy.

How this talented penner of prose can take a vile, hateful man with the blackest soul I’ve ever seen and make me not only like him, but adore him with every cell of my being, I’ll never understand. But that is the magic of this crafty wordsmith's stories. They enchant and bewitch, they nudge us out of our comfort zone, and they leave us breathless and begging for more.

No matter your trope favorites, you really have to get your hands on this one! It's snarky, witty, and smexy, and a bit like watching the most riveting tennis match possible. You'll love the byplay between Vannah and Landon, and you’ll hate to see their story end. Prepare yourself now for an epic book hangover, because these two will absolutely own permanent real estate in your heart. Run to the 1-Click and make sure you don’t miss it!

Something Like Hate was heavy on the enemies aspect, but that lead to some fantastic banter and I couldn’t get enough of it! The sparks were flying between Landon and Vannah the second they first met and those sparks only grew as the spent more time together.

There is no shortage of chemistry between Landon and Vannah throughout any of the story. Landon is somewhat ruthless, he is focused on his career, relationships aren’t his thing. When it comes to love he has been burned in the past and that left a bad taste in his mouth. Vannah is hard working, she is great at what she does. She has had issues with relationships in the past, yet she still is looking for love. However, Landon is the last person she ever thought she could want.

From the banter, the insane chemistry, the workplace romance to the perfect balance between love and hate Something Like Hate was one that I couldn’t put down.

If you’re looking for a steamy enemies to lovers, workplace romance this is one to check out.

Landon and Vannah were enemies to lovers perfection.

Feisty, bold, unapologetic: Vannah was a boss! Her wit and sass instantly hooked me.
Landon’s cold, callous and brash demeanour had me wondering if there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

The way these two battled, verbally sparred and then morphed into something more was amazing to read. Don’t get me wrong, the chemistry and attraction was there, but I stayed for the banter.

The icing on the cake was seeing that underneath his rough exterior, Landon was actually a decent, caring and fiercely loyal guy.
