Women’s Basketball Inks Aaryn Battle To National Letter Of Intent

6/12/2023 12:05:00 PM

PITTSBURGH – Pitt women's basketball head coach Tory Verdi announced Monday afternoon that guard Aaryn Battle signed her national letter of intent to play for the Panthers for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign.

"Aaryn is a big guard that has the ability to play multiple positions," stated Verdi. "Offensively, she has a knack for creating for herself and for teammates. She is a fierce competitor that immediately makes us better."

Battle signs with Pitt after a successful four-year career at Camden Catholic where she helped lead her squad to a 21-11 record and a trip to the Non-Public A South semifinals during her senior season. She capped her stellar senior campaign averaging 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists while being named First Team All-South Jersey and All Non-Public while also earning an invite to the NJBCA Senior All-Star game.

For her career, Battle scored over 1,000 career points as she averaged 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals across 85 contests as a member of the Fighting Irish basketball program. She's currently playing for New Heights NYC AAU team.

Battle becomes the fifth signee for Verdi since taking over the program joining Jala Jordan (Seton Hall), Bella Perkins (USC), Mia Simpson (Morton College) and Rapuluchi Ayodele (Indian River State College). She will join a backcourt that features Perkins, Simpson, Marley Washenitz, Aislin Malcolm and Jasmine Timmerson.
