A Powerful Prescription for Healing
I discovered the work of David Hamilton, Ph.D. after watching the Heal Documentary movie. As I got to know his background and his work, I knew it was just what I needed at this juncture of my healing journey, healing the effects of paralytic polio and childhood trauma. When David put out the call for stories of healing using visualization, I responded to his query. The editors chose my story to be included in the book. David brings his knowledge from the time he worked in the pharmaceutical industry and weaves in the latest research about the mind/body connection to empower everyone to be at the top of their game. How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body is for everybody; whether someone wants to improve their sports performance or harness the power of the mind to heal from disease, illness or injury. David's compassion, warmth and wit make this an easy read. He takes complex scientific concepts and makes them easy to understand. Although I have used visualization for many years, I discovered new information and was particularly inspired by the case studies he presents with people explaining in their own words how they harnessed the power of their mind through visualization to heal from a range of diseases, illnesses and injury. David talks about the importance of using the best that all modalities have to offer and how harnessing the power of the mind through visualization can enhance so called traditional treatments. I've always believed our minds can heal our bodies, and I loved reading the science behind it. Hamilton shared studies, stories, and medical information to show us the power of our minds. Then he goes on to give us tools to put it into practice: visualization and affirmations. The information is priceless to those suffering from illness and for caregivers.

I somehow came across this book shortly after my diagnosis with Stage IIIc breast cancer. I never liked the idea of visualizing "attacking" my cancer like a war analogy, because the cancer was a part of my body. I used the ideas in this book to visualize the cancer melting away as I filled my breast/chest area with light. A few weeks into the chemo, my oncologist examined me and said, "it almost feels like the tumor is melting away!" And I said, "that's my visualization, exactly!" I'm happy to report my treatment (chemo, surgery, radiation) was successful. I just picked up this book again to recommend it to a friend, and ended up using the visualizations there to 1) fall asleep; and 2) help me lose weight. I highly recommend this wonderful book!

Well, it’s worth a try. Straight ahead talk on mental techniques for any kind of ailment, illness or life threatening disease. The author is not lettered scientist, apparently, which might raise a concern that he’s not qualified to be writing on this topic, but having read so many health enhancement books by doctors and scientists, one finds these most advanced certificates interfere often with the writing. In short, experts talk too much. This author is concise and poignant, I read the entire book over one breakfast.

Well, I’d say give it a go, do the visualizations, nothing to lose. Note he never suggests forgoing conventional medical treatment, only that the mind plays a strongly influential role in how the body responds to physical (and obviously also psychological) problems so you’ld be well advise to make use of it.

This is a great introductory book for anyone who wants to explore the mind/ body connection. There is an added bonus of the a-z of visualisations at the end of the book.

Haven't quite finished yet, but so glad I got it - I've been working on mindset for decades, but this still had new stuff I didn't know - I love all the referenced trials, especially about the placebos - fascinating. Been putting bits of it into practice as I go and it's already making a difference. Highly recommend this book

La clase de comida que ingiere, las bebidas que toma, que tanto ejercicio hace, si fuma o toma alcohol en exceso.

La gente con una dieta poco sana que no hace ejercicio y que fuma o toma grandes cantidades de alcohol son los generalmente tienen mayor riesgo.

Pero los científicos pueden calcular también con mayor exactitud el riesgo de lesiones cardiacas tomando en cuenta la tendencia que esa persona tiene hacia las actitudes positivas o negativas o qué tan hostil es hacia otras personas.

La buena noticia es que así como puedes cambiar tu dieta y tu estilo de vida también puedes cambiar tu actitud.

Mejorar y mantener buena salud dependen principalmente de ti.
