It's no small feat to spend almost three decades immersed in a specific tradition as a woman of color, a Black American, not born into that tradition. Even within a liberating path, the conditions are often confusing and even hostile. Rev. angel stayed the course. Raised in proximity to the Christian spectrum of Baptist, Catholic and Episcopalian, she always had an inkling to be a priest. This despite being agnostic as early as 12 years old! She transmuted the deep stillness practice of Zen buddhism and the bodhisattva call to "hear the cries of the world" into a mission to confront anything that hindered liberation. She found that disconnect from the wisdom of the body was a critical obstruction to presence. Embodied presence became the focus of her practice.
