7/18/2023 10:01:00 AM

PITTSBURGH – Season tickets for 2023-24 Pitt women's basketball season are on sale now through the Panthers Ticket Office, as announced Tuesday morning. Season tickets can be purchased for $60 each.

The Panthers' schedule has not been finalized for the upcoming season but promises another exciting campaign in the Atlantic Coast Conference, which boasts multiple nationally ranked foes. Pitt is expected to announce its full non-conference schedule later this summer with the complete schedule with dates, times and TV designations coming in September.

Secure your new 2023-24 season tickets HERE. Season ticket holder from last season who want to renew their season tickets can log onto their account online and renew HERE. All seating in the Petersen Events Center will be General Admission, excluding VIP Courtside.

The new era of Pitt women's basketball began on April 7 as Tory Verdi was announced as the 10th head coach in program history. Verdi and his experienced staff got right to work to rebuild the program, something Verdi has experience with at his last two stops in the college ranks.

The Panthers return just four players to the squad from last season led by senior Liatu King who finished off a career year in 2022-23 as she averaged 9.4 points, a team-high 7.6 rebounds and a team-high 1.4 blocks. Fellow senior Gabby Hutcherson returns and will be expected to expand her role from a season ago as she averaged 5.0 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 34.3% from behind the arc in her first season as a Panther. The sophomore duo of Marley Washenitz and Aislin Malcolm will be pushing for a bigger role this season as Washenitz earned 16 starts at point guard and averaged 3.3 points and 1.5 assists while Malcolm averaged 3.1 points off the bench but shot a team-high 41.2% from behind the arc.

Pitt is welcoming a total of seven newcomers to the squad this season including four transfers and three incoming freshmen. Graduate student Jala Jordan will bring experience and leadership down low for the Panthers after spending last season at Seton Hall where she averaged 5.3 points and 2.9 rebounds across 12.0 minutes per game. She has also played two seasons at Auburn and one season at West Virginia across her accomplished collegiate career. USC transfer Bella Perkins will be returning closer to home and play for the Panthers after two seasons out west. The talented guard appeared in only 10 games last season and averaged 3.5 points while shooting 40.0% from behind the arc before being sidelined with an injury. The former Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year will look to steady the Pitt backcourt all season long.

Also joining the squad for the 2023-24 season are a pair of junior college transfers in Rapuluchi Ayodele and Mia Simpson. Ayodele comes to Pitt after spending last season at Indian River State College where she averaged a double-double with 14.1 points and 14.1 rebounds while earning NJCAA Second Team All-American honors. Simpson had an impressive season of her own at Morton College where she averaged a double-double with 17.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.0 steals per game while shooting a nation-leading 71.2% from the floor. She also earned NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Sophomore Player of the Year and NJCAA Division II All-Tournament Team honors following her strong campaign that saw her squad post a 34-1 overall record.

The three freshmen joining Pitt are local standout Jasmine Timmerson, Canadian prospect Lauren Rust and New Jersey guard Aaryn Battle. The three talented youngsters will push for playing time while adding good depth to the Pitt roster for the upcoming campaign.
