Panthers Announce Signing Of Transfer Guard Raeven Boswell

8/28/2023 11:53:00 AM

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team added another guard to the mix Monday afternoon as head coach Tory Verdi announced the signing of Georgia Tech transfer guard Raeven Boswell. Boswell will have three years of eligibility remaining as she joins the Pitt squad for the 2023-24 campaign.

"We're excited to announce the signing of Raeven Boswell," stated Verdi. "She is an athletic wing that will give us another perimeter threat as she can score at all three levels. She brings a winning pedigree to our program as she was a two-time district champion and All-State Honoree at Lake Travis High School in Texas."

Boswell comes to Pitt after spending her freshman campaign at ACC foe Georgia Tech. The athletic wing saw action in five games during her first collegiate season, making her college debut against Kennesaw State on Nov. 11. She had the best game of her young career against Furman (Dec. 21) as she scored a career-high seven points and grabbed two rebounds across 10 minutes of work. She also appeared in a pair of ACC games against Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

A highly touted recruit out of Lake Travis High School in Texas, Boswell was a three-sport athlete as she played basketball, track & field and volleyball. On the court, she helped lead her squad to District Championships in her sophomore and junior seasons while earning All-State honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association and being a three-time All-District First Team member. The gifted athlete also helped lead her volleyball team to back-to-back District Championships during her high school career.

Boswell comes from a long line of athletes in her family as her father, Mark, was a two-time Olympic high jumper for Canada, competing in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Boswell marks the eighth signee for Verdi and his staff since arriving in Pittsburgh. She is also the fifth transfer to join the squad and will provide the Panthers with some experience in the backcourt heading into the 2023-24 season.
