Supporting Activism
By powering the Indigenous Peoples who nurture the heart of our natural world, we’re investing in the future of generations to come. The Choose Earth collective work collaboratively with and directly resource the Indigenous community leaders who work for the collective good, who are self-organising to create effective strategies of resistance and change.
Exchange Knowledge
Storytelling is at the heart of our cultural expression. In collaboration with our network of Indigenous storytellers, we aim to reframe the Western narratives around Indigenous Peoples and conservation. Defining the campaign’s narrative and guiding us throughout, these creative minds will relay crucial information and honest reflections of their emotional, intellectual and spiritual intelligence, shaped by collective storytelling rather than individual stories.
Challenge Perceptions
Western frameworks fail to recognise the relevance, experience and wisdom of Indigenous communities. Beyond this campaign itself, we want to make visible Indigenous voices and stories, and change Western change narratives about Indigenous communities by creating a collaborative platform that amplifies Indigenous autonomy, wisdom, and worldviews; in turn, challenging global citizens to adopt more Earth-centric value systems.
We support, amplify and resource Indigenous communities across Brazil who are fighting for their cultural existence and the protection of their territories and ecosystems.
Our Strategy
As such, we have built a network of nominated key Indigenous community leaders - academics, scientists, activists, artists, journalists, shamans, and spiritual leaders - who are committed to driving change on a regional and national scale. Holding a deep understanding of the socio-political landscape of Brazil, these leaders direct where the donations go.
Donations will go towards the direct costs of these individuals’ collective community work, giving them autonomy to decide how they want to support their community and territory. We are funding technology that will aid surveillance, cultural spiritual programmes, food sovereignty and environmental restoration projects, and traditional educational practices, amongst other things.
How the money is spent
100% of your donations will go to resourcing the leaders fighting for the future of our planet.
The money has been spent on technology for territorial surveillance and protection, seed saving, replanting gardens, boats to evade violent attacks, transport between villages to self organise, satellite internet to connect communities and internationally amplify voices, building of traditional prayer houses for cultural reinforcement, building houses to reclaim traditional territory, gatherings to organise against extractive industries, health supplies to battle covid, traditional medicinal gardens, animals and seeds to gain food sovereignty, rent for students studying law and anthropology to battle for rights and protection, legal fees for land demarcation, tools for building community infrastructure and economic autonomy, emergency food and medicine, mobile phones to ensure security against invasion.
