Desi Camscanner app alternative gets 1 lakh downloads in a week
NEW DELHI: After popular document scanning app Camscanner got banned in India along with 58 other apps of Chinese origin, homegrown app makers KShark Apps released multiple alternatives of the banned apps. These include apps like File Explorer, Photo Gallery, NotePad and others. However, one app called Carbon Scanner: Doc Scanner, PDF Creator, which is basically an alternative to Camscanner became popular.

Carbon Scanner crossed 1 lakh downloads in seven days. “Carbon Scanner is trending in top charts just 2 weeks after its release and getting 15k downloads every day,” said the company.
KShark Apps is founded by Kartik Sharma who left his corporate job to start and grow an India-based mobile app studio based out of Delhi. Since officially starting its operations in 2017, the mobile studio has grown to receive 12 million downloads for its various applications, claims the firm. The Carbon Scanner app is only available for Android as of now and not for iPhones.
Meanwhile, several alternatives to made-in-India alternatives to TikTok have arrived as well and the latest is Chingari. Touted to be a Desi rival to short-video sharing app TikTok, the app is available on both Google Play Store as well as Apple App Store. It's a free download on both the app stores.
The company claims that it has crossed more than 2.5 million downloads. It is said to have reached the milestone from 550,000 downloads in just ten days. Biswatma Nayak, co-founder of the Chingari App, said, "In the last few days, we have witnessed a 400 per cent growth in the subscribers of the app."
