Busy Bean #10

Afterglow

Rate this book
I’m a numbers girl.

Or at least I thought I was, until my formula fell apart. Back home in Vermont, with my dream on hiatus, I’m working at the Busy Bean and taking online classes. As long as I keep my focus, I’ll be back in New York City next semester. Hopefully.

When Declan O’Shaughnessy storms into the café, all muscles and tattoos, wielding his sexy Irish brogue like a weapon, the only equation I can solve is one that lands me in his bed. Even more dangerous, is my growing affection for his cherub-faced little boy.

But Declan has complications of his own. He’s cagey, but I’ll win him over.

Yeah, about that focus… mine is all on him. Can we have a harmless fling without getting hurt?

Afterglow is the last book of the True North world and what a good way to end it.

Aria Wyatt wrote such an emotional story, the characters were all diligently tangled to create a gripping story. The ending is powerful and extremely beautiful, it made the early rise to finish to read it so much worth it.

“Everyone crumbles. You forget how many times you’ve put yourself back together. That’s the beauty of being broken. The cracks and chasms run deep, but each time you rise and dust yourself off, you stand a little taller and shine brighter.”

Declan and Solana are complex, they have a lot of personal baggage and every reason to stay away from each other but physical attraction, chemistry and love will make it really difficult to do.
I loved to follow them in this journey, reading their mishaps made me tear up and their growth made me so proud and happy.

I recommend to read this story. Let's go to Vermont!!

Solana + Declan

Sunny is almost 22 and she's back home in Vermont. She lost her scholarship in New York, but she wants to go back as sooon as possible - meanwhile she's a barista at the Busy Bean.
Declan is a 34 year old divorced dad of a four year old boy. His ex is horrible! But she has her reasons for not trusting him more with their son.
Sunny and Dec should not have anything in common other than this super-insta attraction... and she'll be back in New York soon and he's way too old with huge problems in his life ... right?

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!

═════════════════

Adorable!

But also not. I just hate it when my heros or heroines are sick - in whatever way. This time it's alcohol addiction. And the heroine's parents have been killed by drunk driver when she was seven. It wasn't our hero, but still - she will probably hate him once she finds out about his addiction. I hate that.
And I hated Dec's ex wife and Sunny's brother. I can understand her reasons about his addiction, but she's still a huge b-word!
Other than all that, this was such a cute and sexy age gap romance!
The little boy is so adorable and he's so sad that he doesn't get to see his dad more often!😭
The mom and brother get so much better at the end - so that's something at least. I really loved reading this.
There were some parts where there was just too much conversation for my tastes. They talked too much and in such a weird way, with too many weird or complicated words. Words that a 22 year old would not use in a conversation. Tiny example about his 'balcony' .. she asks if he uses this frequently. That sentence sounded so silly. A normal girl would not use the word frequently in this situation - she would've just said - do you come up here often. Or do you use this a lot? I think a few hundred words could've been cut - or should've been cut by an editor.
But still - I really loved Dec and Sunny and Liam and Ethan!
Great love story!

And like I always say when it comes to books in the True North World: I could read these kinds of books every day for the rest of eternity!
And I also wouldn't mind seeing this whole world on Netflix one day!

AFTERGLOW was such an adorable + sexy + funny + exciting + heartbreaking age gap love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Dec - he'll be sold out in no time!

I was so lucky to get an ARC copy of this wonderful book.
I absolutely love Declan & Solana. They are both such wonderful characters that really work to better themselves and to overcome so many obstacles.
This is definitely a character driven book. I had such a back schedule this week. I needed to steel time away to find out what happens next.
Declan is such a gruff on the outside/tender hearted on the inside. He meets Solano at the Busy Bean. Solano is back in Colebury for a semester. She decided to take a semester off from grad school.
Solana and Declan tell themselves and each other that they're just temporary. I know better.
They both get an ah ha moment or a gradual ah ha.
The romance is off the charts.
Declan is riddled with guilt and shame. His ex-wife has really done a number on him. He's beaten down and has had a hard time moving on.
I really liked Ethan, Declan's supportive bff/business partner.
I enjoyed this story and so glad that I read it at the right time. It's a great story of forgiveness, and starting over.

My heart is so full it might just burst .....

I went into this story already #winning. Wanna know why? Because the blurb is sassy, not too wordy and grabs your attention. At least it did mine, and it carries a bit of spark to it which I was hoping would jump into the storyline, and it did! The blurb has a hook to it, a feel if you will, and I’m happy to report that it delivered, 100%!!

There’s a lot more than the story of two people finding love between these pages. There’s a story of growth for both our leads, as individuals and as a couple. It also deals with some life circumstances respectfully and in a relatable and realistic manner. I dont say that lightly. I’ll be the first with a pitchfork if you decide to integrate the type of subject matter that is part of this book and don’t treat it with the respect it calls for. And I am as picky as they come on this point.

The blurb does an exceptional job of luring you in without giving details and honestly, I wish there weren’t that many reviews out there that do, because the element of surprise is part of the #winning of this story. There were at least a couple times I told the author (in my head), well played! which is not an easy feat with me. I read a lot, and not seeing something coming is not usually something that happens but I didn’t see this entire story coming. It is sexy and sassy, heartbreaking yet hopeful, well developed and written, and made my heart sing from almost the beginning. I went thru a lot of different emotions while I read this book and every single one was worth it!

Go do the thing now … this book will rank in your top reads this year! #betme

I liked this one, but man...did both Declan and Solana drive me nuts at times. Both of them were often too much in their head about their own issues and didn't want to share them. When by sharing they could have finally found what they were looking for, someone to have their back. By the end, they got there, but it was painful watching it happen. Often it was 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

I will say the highlight of this one for me was when Solana went to her brother's house and really ripped him and his wife a new one. Both of them deserved it for what they had done in the past. I was intrigued by how both answered the ass ripping, making good changes in their lives, ones that made everyone's lives better. It helped the ending be happy for them all.

Afterglow is the last book in the Busy Bean series, set in Sarina Bowen’s World of True North. It is a standalone, so it can definitely be enjoyed by itself.

There’s so much I want to say and I don’t have the words. It’s the story of Declan and Solana, two wounded souls finding themselves and each other, finding true love and solace and healing and redemption and forgiveness and happiness. There’s so much to say about it. It’s heartfelt and soulful and heartbreaking and heartwarming. It’s sweet and romantic and steamy and emotional. It’s everything. It’s also funny at times. It made me smile and cry and laugh out loud. It also made me angry. It just made me feel all the feels. And I loved it so much.

I loved the complexity of the story and the characters. Solana and Declan are very different people in different places in their lives, but have also a lot in common. Their chemistry and their connection is established from the first time they meet and it only grows stronger. The way their relationship and the story evolves is just brilliant. It’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. It surprised me in more than one occasion and I just didn’t want to stop reading. I couldn’t put the book down.

Solana is almost 22, and is back in Colebury for the semester after having to leave her dream college in New York after getting overwhelmed by her anxiety and her inability to cope with her panic attacks. She has a tragic past and is having trouble moving on. Declan is a divorced father who has issues with the mother of his kid. He’s 34 years old and is trying to make up for the mistakes he made. The attraction they feel for each other is so strong they can’t stay away from each other. They start a friends with benefits arrangement that keeps getting more intense and complicated. It’s definitely a roller coaster with ups and downs and unexpected twists. It is a wonderful ride. The way Solana and Declan heal themselves and each other is one of my favorite aspects of their story. Their strength and the way they rebuild themselves after being broken is a beautiful thing to watch.

One of the things I enjoyed the most while reading Afterglow was the way the author built her own world within the World of True North. The way she melded her own characters and their stories and their personalities with Sarina’s. The impact and influence of Audrey and May Shipley or Zara and Alec Rossi was just perfection. Then you have Ethan and Liam, Darcy and Cody, Will and River, all side characters that give the story so much weight and depth. They are so well developed and have such an influence in the story that you can’t help but want to read their stories too.

I have to make a special mention of Liam. He’s Declan’s almost five year old son. And he’s a delight. I love kids like him in romance novels. He’s witty and sweet and adorable. He’s so smart, and one of the highlights of the story is his relationship with Declan and his relationship with Solana. Every scene he’s in is a treat. I dare you not to fall in love with him. I just wanted to hug him and buy him a jelly doughnut. One of my favorite kids ever.

The setting of the story also gives it a lot of depth. The Busy Bean, the Gin Mill, the Winooski River, Colebury and even the Colebury Diner are places that play an important roll in the story. There’s enough Vermontyness to make my True North loving heart happy.

Aria Wyatt is an amazing and talented writer. I have fallen madly and deeply in love with her words. I have read her Compass series and loved every word. And Afterglow is just more of her awesomeness. I just loved every single thing about this book. I highly recommend it. It’s so good!

Aria Wyatt, obok ostrzeżeń przed scenami z ostrym seksem, zamieszcza przed swoimi powieściami dedykacje.

ARC received for an honest review

Well, hello sexy Irish single dad!

We have another grumpy lumbersexual in Declan. The light to his dark is Solana/Sunny and she is strong and feisty.

Declan has his dramas - names an ex wife who needs a strong slap about the head. Boy, what a cow is that one.

And don't get me started on Sunny's brother - that one needs a nut punch. Like, a kick that moves his balls to his throat lol

There is an absolutely scene stealer that will run far far away with you heart.

Sunny and Declan are two broken souls who find a light in each other, and bring light to those around them.

This is the end of the Busy Bean series, and I am going to miss them

Afterglow is the final book in the True North/Busy Bean series and it did not disappoint! Solana Delgado just moved back to Colebury after living in New York for some time and she's working at the Busy Bean Café while taking online classes. Declan O'Shaughnessy left Ireland some years ago to visit his best friend Ethan in Colebury but never left due to the birth of his son Liam. When Solana and Declan meet at the Busy Bean, they feel a pull between them but dismiss it. Later on, when they run into each other again, Declan helps out Solana and they start to get to know each other. Both Solana and Declan had plenty of baggage but the connection they feel is beyond anything either of them has ever felt for another person. Declan was 34, dealing with a vindictive ex-wife who refused to let him see his son and he was an recovering alcoholic. At only 21 years old, Solana was wise beyond her years and yet she suffered from anxiety that sometimes left her unable to even move. For Declan, Solana was the first woman to really see him for who he was and she never judged him. The way they were able to talk and connect and help each other heal from their past and even their present was beautiful to read. Even the side characters brought a certain amount of depth to the story and made it even richer. Solana had her best friends River and Will who always had her back no matter what. Declan had Ethan and Pen. Even Declan's ex-wife was an important part of the story as well as Solana's brother. Audrey, Zara, May and Alec all made cameos that were important to the story overall. The chemistry between Solana and Declan was so strong, I could feel it every time they were in a scene together. This story was about forgiveness, love, healing and your chosen family. I absolutely loved reading this book, I couldn't put it down. Solana and Declan were perfect for each other, they came into each other's lives at the right time. This was my first time reading a book by Arya Wyatt and I loved every second of it.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the tenth book in this multi-author series based in Sarina Bowen's True North world. I have read many of them, and really enjoy catching up with old friends and reading about new loves.

This is quite a difficult read in places, as Sunny/Solana's brother may have developed a heart, but he was a terrible guardian to her when their parents were killed. I did feel that I could see the set-up for what happened, but I still enjoyed watching it play out, even if I kept wondering when the shoe would drop.

Romance-wise, Sunny and Declan are an inevitability, and yet there are a number of barriers which will force them to evaluate what they want, what they need, and how they can be there for each other. Dec's son, Liam, is a bright light in the confusion, as is his lovely dog, Moira.

It was lovely to have May featuring more, as she supported Dec through some dark times. And with Sunny having grown up locally, she is known by the community. Her best friends, Will and River, get to love and care for her and support her through her anxiety, as well as encouraging her to take a chance with Dec.

A really interesting twist in the story, which really made me wonder how they could possibly work out the dynamics at play, but the author does a great job.

The heart comes into focus when the soul finds it's place. For Solana and Declan the hunt continues. Solana is struggling to find herself after losing her most precious asset. Her quest takes her from the big city, back home to Vermont. Declan is finding his footing as a single dad. He has baggage that continues to haunt his present and shadow his heart. When the ever optimistic Solana meets the overly jaded Declan sparks fly. Out of the ashes of heartache springs a reason to hope and a love story that sticks to the heart. Afterglow is a beautiful surprise.

"You good with a tongue bath?"
Wait, what?
I stop short and blink a few times. "Excuse me?"
"Jaysus."
He claps a hand to his forehead. "Moira. She'll probably lick you to death." His cheeks and neck flush deep crimson as I burst out laughing.

OKAYYY I 100% KNEW going into this that Declan was Irish. Yes. I did know that. BUT WHAT I DIDN'T KNOW was that he was going to exceed each and every one of my expectations as being one of the sexiest characters I've EVER READ ABOUT IN ALL OF MY LIFE. His dirty talk--unparalleled. I wanted to add a few quotes but nahhh I think I'll let you all read them in real time. His dominance in the bedroom--perfect level. LOL In all seriousness though, it was a beautiful thing to see him come alive once Solana came into this life. Sure, he had been living his life just fine before she came along, but after the first time he saw her at the Bean, he lit UP. She was the perfect amount of sunshine to help him grow in a better person, a better partner, and possibly even better father (though he was doing his damn best already).

He suddenly pulls back. Gasping, he drags both hands through his sopping wet hair. "We should stop before I lose my fuckin' mind."
"We can't stop."
I'm breathing just as hard, drenched in every sense of the word. "I need you to help me lose my mind."

That five stars though, isn't just because Declan is the sexiest man in the entire world (fictional or not). No, it's so much more than that. This book hit me in the feels on so many different levels. I loved that while Solana (I ALSO LOVE HER TO DEATH) is a literal ray of sunshine, she also has some deep depths of darkness to walk through. The amount of pain and tragedy that she's already been through in her young life and the fact that she can still be the beautifully kind person that she is, really speaks to her character.

That's what made the two of them together so special. The two had such explosive chemistry, Solana helped Declan be a better person, Declan protected and cared and LISTENED to Solana, the two eventually spill their guts to one another and fight for one another. They just fit so perfectly.

Honestly you guys, I'm just going to say it. This is my TOP, TOP favorite book in ALL of The World of True North series. I just really am going to need everyone to run and go read the entire series BUT ESPECIALLY this one. I could honestly gush all day. There is not a single part of this book that I didn't like and you better believe that once there is an audio of this I will be SPRINTING to buy it so I can listen to Declan's sexy Irish brogue in my ear holes. *shivers*

I received a free copy through Heart Eyes Press in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

4.5 stars — Wow, this book was an intense rollercoaster ride. And I mean that in more than one way.

The book started off solidly, I was pretty hooked and intrigued. Then I had some…concerns and my interest was kinda conditional (I’ll get there). BUT!!! Then the plot fucking took off and I was all in with a grin! The ending is giving it the extra half star bump today folks, I’m so glad I let my wariness go and just plunged ahead.

Solana was fantastic. I mean, she was mixed up and damaged, but I think that made watching her journey more satisfying. Not only that, it made the moments of sunshine and light and kindness from her so endearing, b/c you know she didn’t have enough of that growing up. She goes through some STUFF. Both in the past and in the present. It was interesting to see her struggling with her anxiety, and like so many of us with mental health issues, avoiding doing the things that might help. She had moments where she frustrated me, and if she had been any other heroine with any other past, I probably wouldn’t have granted her as much leeway. But I feel like it made sense, so I accepted it.

Declan — wow. That is one complicated character. In general I really loved him. He was profoundly damaged himself, though in a completely different way. It was interesting to see him struggling with his addiction, and seeing how he coped with things. I rooted for him, I ached for him, I wanted him to grow that backbone just like all his friends. BUT…he encapsulated much of the wariness and concern I mentioned at the start of this review. I was uncomfortable with his temper. It wasn’t violent to others, but I was concerned with his yelling, especially the one incident with Liam. It felt…harsh. But I’m not a parent. I really don’t know if that was all resolved in a reasonable way. I think I was (and maybe still am) a bit concern that he’s not getting help for that. Maybe I’m taking it as a bigger deal than it was, but that’s where I stumbled with him. The thing is, he had so much else going on inside him, and a lot of that was delightful. So I kind of rode it out and let it go, and was a happier reader for it.

Their romance was interesting. The steamy scenes were epically steamy, and while sometimes I felt it to my bones, sometimes I felt disconnected. But that could be just my mood, it happens. I did appreciate the way they were there for one another, the way they listened without judging. The way they offered different perspectives to the other. The way they helped each other grow. That was the highlight for me.

Lots of fascinating secondary characters. Obviously there was Liam, and he is just as cute as you would imagine…but still realistically 4. I definitely ached for him. There were some great friends on both sides, with Ethan for Dec, and Will and River for Sunny. I loved seeing them support their friends and help them through.

And then there’s Darcy and Cody. I can’t really say much about these two without giving something away, but just know that I was concerned that they would not be redeemable, that they would be black and white, but they were 3 dimensional, and in general I really believed in the growth of the relationships there, and was satisfied with the end.

Oh yeah…I can’t forget Moira. I wish I had more Moira time, b/c that croissant loving girl was the best pony-sized dog ever.

So there you have it. Lots of emotions. Lots of anticipation while I was reading. Lots of heartache, and lots of love.

The final book in the Busy Bean series and what a rollercoaster this one was! So much happened in this book and every bit of it was really great. I couldn't put this story down and it was a long one. Solana moves back to Vermont in need of a break. She has been through so much in her life and is only 22. She witnessed her parents death in a car crash when she was a child, was assaulted when was a teen, her brother was not the guardian she needed him to be, and her now ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her roommate. She continues to struggle with her parents' deaths and the nightmares and panic attacks have yet to cease. So she definitely needs a break. To keep herself busy and try to pull herself together she takes a position at the Busy Bean where one of her closest friends works. She figures if she can take a breather and get her anxiety under control, she'll be back at her original college by next semester. What she doesn't expect is to meet Declan. Their chemistry is instant despite the age gap. And for her, it is the first time she feels safe around someone that wasn't her two best friends. But Declan has his own demons to fight. He is a recovering alcoholic who is fighting that battle every day. Not only that, but he is trying to get visitation rights to his young son but his ex-wife is constantly fighting him and making his life miserable every step of the way. All he wants is more time with his kid and he doesn't want to do anything to risk that. He has been sober for four years and will remain that way because his son comes first. Then Solana enters his life in a light so bright, he finds himself drawn to her in ways he has never been with anyone before. She is the goodness he so desperately needs in his life and though he knows he should stay far away from her, he can't. This story had so much going on. And there were plenty of twists and turns the entire way through. I never knew what was going to happen. I was cheering for these characters to fight for want they wanted and get their happily ever after. And I loved every moment of it. Declan and Solana are such great characters and the side characters in their lives too made me want to know more about them to the point I thought they needed their own books. A really fantastic way to end this series!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Afterglow is Aria Wyatt's contribution to the multi-author Busy Bean series. Each book in this small town series is read as a standalone.

There's a lot going on in this book. There's alcoholism, mistakes, regrets, a custody battle, jealousy, death of parents, and grief.

Declan and Solana are amazing together. And holy dirty talk and chemistry. These two burn up the sheets together.

And, oh, how he handles Solana in the bedroom. Finding out she's a virgin might scare him off, but damn, he recovers. He's dominant and powerful and knows what he wants.

And of course I adore Solana. She's definitely a little confused about her life and future, but she's the perfect person to balance Declan. Her past is horrible and I am in awe of the way she's survived it all.

The heart of this story however lays in the hands of Declan's son. What a total charmer he is. There's plenty of custody issues, and the boy hears way too much for a kid his age. But, this presence is what makes this tale.

I love Declan as a father. Love him. And my heart hurts for him. I appreciate the way Solana is able to help him, and I love the way everything wraps up.

And of course, Solana's brother is around. And oh god, this part of the story is maddening yet so well done. He's caused her years of pain, so it's nice seeing them talk finally.

Declan and Solana's journey isn't easy. There's plenty of pain along the way. But it's well worth it for them in the end.

The writing is great, and the storyline nice and developed. I just don't love reading an accent in my books, as reading the Irish brogue starts to get on my nerves after a while.

Afterglow is a great addition to this small town world. And I absolutely love the ending that Aria Wyatt gave this sweet couple.

Afterglow was a bit emotional and hard hitting. There’s discussion of alcoholism, assault, and parental death. I’m not bothered by any of it, but it’s important to know. It’s also an age-gap romance. That’s not my favorite trope, but I wasn’t bothered.

Solana is a college student who returns to Vermont because her panic attacks are too much. Her panic stems from the death of her parents when she was a kid. She’s now working at the Busy Bean. Declan’s a moody Irishman who wants more time with his son, but has issues with his ex-wife. He’s also a recovering alcoholic. Solana’s parents died because of a drunk driver so...drama.

They meet at the Busy Bean because Declan comes in a lot usually with his son. And the chemistry is there right away. Declan tries to avoid a relationship with Solana because he doesn’t want to piss off his ex-wife. But this is a romance so you know they give into the temptation. It starts as a physical thing, but they both want more.

There is some relationship conflict which I’m not going into because that’s maybe too spoiler. Ms. Wyatt took what I expected, but did some interesting things with it.

A lot of the story is about Declan and Solana’s personal issues and conflicts. Declan’s surround alcohol and his ex-wife. Solana is still dealing with the loss of her parents 15 years earlier. She was raised by her older brother and that wasn’t the healthiest relationship. I liked how deep their characters were.

This may have been a tad too long. Some parts felt drawn out. Other times resolutions felt fast. Maybe I just can’t be satisfied.

Oh, I almost forgot the side characters. They were very well developed and felt real. They were also complex-again realistic. They also provided some sequel bait.

Afterglow was a good addition to the Busy Bean series and a nice conclusion.

3 stars. This was an okay read for me. Afterglow is book ten in the Busy Bean series, a standalone book in a series set in Sarina Bowen's True North world. This is Solana and Declan's book. Solana recently took a break from college and moved back to her hometown to work on some issues she's
dealing with. She is working at the Busy Bean. Declan is a single dad. Both of them are dealing with some pretty heavy trauma from their pasts and neither think they are in the right place for a relationship. But their connection is too hard to deny and they give in and start a relationship, knowing that it might just be temporary. Can the two of them work through their own problems, help each other heal and move on to a bright future together?

This was not a bad book. It just wasn't to my personal taste as far as angst. There were many big dramatic moments. I just found it to be unrealistic and melodramatic. It seemed a bit too long and I didn't feel any of the depth or emotion. There is a lot of crying by the characters, there was a little too much kid-time, and was a little too cheesy at times. The story was okay and kept my attention, but I didn't feel a connection to the book or the characters. Still, I was happy that Solana and Declan were able to work through their problems and come out together happy in the end.

Overall, this was just an okay read for me. It was pretty heavy and dramatic. Still, I enjoyed it in general and found it entertaining for the most part. I am really enjoying the Busy Bean series though and look forward to more from it in the future.

I’ve never even heard of Aria Wyatt before, but if the rest of her books are as well-written as this one, I have a new favorite author! This book is a multi-layered story that focuses on the relationship between Declan and Solana, but woven in there are scenes involving Declan’s ex-wife, Darcy, and her new husband, Cody, and Darcy and Declan’s son Liam. Declan has some dear friends that make essential appearances and Solana (Sunny) has a couple of besties that play important roles as well. So there are lots of people doing lots of things that will make readers laugh, cry, smile, and cheer throughout. Wow! There are so many feelings that bubble up to the surface in this book! There are a couple of stupid actions that cause trauma, followed by hard-fought redemption and forgiveness. There is a lot of beauty in the prose, sitting right alongside some hawt scenes in the bedroom…and the workshop…and the shower. Just read these words from the book: “Solana, you’re livin’ proof there’s true beauty in being broken. Every piece of you shines like the sun, reflecting a light you can’t see.” Isn’t that beautiful??

This book is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at different times, but the heartwarming parts are so wonderfully written that joy is inevitable for anyone with a beating heart. It’s all centered around a coffee shop in Vermont and now I want to read all of the other books in this series…and everything else that I can find by this author! Oh, and I now have a brand new playlist filled with wonderful songs that are mentioned at the start of most chapters and set the tone for that chapter! Squeee!!

I'm not crying, you're crying.....ok fine, It's definitely me... I'm crying. This book had me all up in my feels and I was fully engrossed in the story line and the characters from start to finish.

Afterglow is book ten and the final book in the Busy Bean series, but can be read as a complete standalone. Declan is divorced and trying to navigate his business along with personal challenges in his life in addition to his ex-wife who makes visitation with his son extremely difficult. Solana (what an amazing name, am I right?) is a college student who recently returned to Colebury, VT from NY after having some more difficulty with life in general, so she is taking a little bit of a break. She is working at the Busy Bean and taking online classes. Declan and Solana have instant chemistry from their initial meeting and it takes of from there.

I love, love, loved these characters. While their journey culminated in a beautiful happily ever after, it was not all sunshine and rainbows to get there for Declan and Solana. I appreciated the support they provided each other, and while on paper they could appear to be polar opposites, they were almost like the perfect halves of a whole. I loved the scenes with Solana and Liam and I loved what an amazing father Declan was to Liam despite the hurdles he was constantly facing.

The author highlighted some very real and important issues, and she did it well, but I still felt like Solana and Declan's journey was the focus of the story which I greatly appreciated. This was my first book by the author and I was very impressed and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Oh man. Secrets, past trauma, and the many layers (not all good) of family. Declan and Solana deal with a lot as they navigate their potential relationship and figure out how to be a couple.

To be fair, Solana never meant to hide who her family was. Her falling out with her brother and all the messiness that went along with it was one of those things she was dealing with. Sort of. Regardless, she didn't know the issues between her brother and Declan (and her brother's wife) and finding out how they were interconnected was as much a shock to her as it was to Dec.

I have feelings about Solana's brother, too. Not good feelings. Let's just say there was a lot of realizations he (and others) needed to come to before they could be in a good place.

As for Declan and his issues, I feel like the guy would take two steps forward and one step back. Or, not him, exactly, but the circumstances he found himself in would push him back down again and again and he was too afraid of losing what little he had to fight for more. Which kind of spiraled him down further. Given how hard he'd fought to get where he was, it was a little tough to watch.

A sweet kiddo, a man trying to fix his mistakes, a brother that needed a good yelling at, and a lady who is smart enough to ask questions when things go south. *thumbs up*

I absolutely love the Busy Bean series! This is the final book in the series and it is my favorite. Declan and Solana and Liam are some of the best characters I’ve read. They have some deep, dark baggage and issues that are presented in the most fascinating way….you won’t see it coming!

Declan is hot…just everything with the biggest, sexiest heart and persona. We all need a Declan in our life!!

Solana is a true ray of sunshine..her heart and beauty are so true and just amazing. We could all use a friend like her.

Liam - ugh…the little nugget will steal your heart. Such a sweet, smart boy who has a heart big enough to love everyone.

All three characters, along with supporting characters are a little broken, hiding secrets/fears but their hearts are in the right place…they may not handle events/situations in the best way but their intent is genuine.

I literally cried…sobbed towards the end of the book. There are a lot of emotions in this book. This is a beautiful story filled with understanding, forgiveness, love and lots of sexy times.

I requested an arc and I’m leaving my honest review.

More than just a hot romance

This book like all of Aria Wyatt's novels was an immersive and emotional story. The characters were very well written and had so many details about them I felt like they were people I knew. This author flawlessly weaves stories about everyday people who endure the trials of life and continue to persevere. The story of Solana & Declan is an amazing love story. Each of them have emotional stories that may be difficult for some people to read. Some people are drawn to stories where the characters and their settings are perfect. I am not one of them. I like my characters to be real, the story has to have depth and be juicy. Aria Wyatt has checked all of those boxes. I don't want to get into specifics about the plot for fear of spoiling it but it is one of the top 5 books I've read in the past year. By the way, the sex scenes are hotter than hell! This book is far from your typical romance novel. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. I am emotionally connected Solana & Declan. I'm hoping there is a sequel because I'm itching to know what happens next as their story continues.

This book was so original and touching. I couldn't put it down.
Declan is a recovering alcoholic who is trying to get more time with his son. Solana suffers from panic attacks that stem from her parents death.

This is a age gap romance, she's 21 and he's 34. I loved how the author used music and songs to put you in the right mood for certain chapters or moments. You could tell that a lot of emotions went into writing this book.

I felt every moment of the journey that Solana and Declan go thru. This is not a lighthearted read. The feelings and emotions are deep. Some are upsetting while others warmed my heart. And I thoroughly enjoyed all the twists and turns the story took. It was a constant surprise. This had been my favorite addition to the busy bean series.

I would love it if this book went to audio, because I'm gonna need to hear that Irish brogue in my ear. Reading it was so sexy, but listening to a narrator who can do it justice would be amazing.

This is my first time reading this author but certainly will not be the last as I love her work.  The story is so well written with a great plot and subplots and fantastic character development including very wonderfully supportive friends.  Solana Delgado has left her NY University due to anxiety over the upcoming 15 year anniversary of her parent's death to stay at a friend's Inn in Vermont.  While working at the Busy Bean she meets a very grump Declan O’Shaughnessy.  There is an attraction and Declan comes to Solana's rescue but as she plans to return to NY next semester she does not think a relationship is a good idea.  Nor does Declan as he is concern about the arrangement he has with his ex in regards to visitation with his 4-year-old son, Liam.  You will not be able to help but fall in love with Liam.  The story has heartbreak, angst, danger, humor, steamy romance, and twists and turns you will not see coming.  It is absolutely fantastic!

I love the World of True North that Sarina Bowen has created so I was beyond thrilled to find out that other authors would be writing books set in this world. I have previously read books by Aria Wyatt so I knew I would like this book as I have enjoyed her others.. The Busy Bean series is definitely a fun spin off in this world and Bull and Scarlett really help that be true.

Declan and Solana's story was quite a roller coaster of a ride. I really enjoyed it but I was also exhausted by the time it came to an end. This was a really good way to end the series.

I have very much enjoyed all of the books that took place in World of True North and I am quite sad to see this series come to an end but I am hopeful that we will get at least a few more books that are set in this engaging world.

Solana has endured more trauma in her life than anyone should have to, and she has had very little support along the way. Although she perseveres, she still has her struggles so when her life takes another difficult turn, she returns to her hometown to regroup where she meets Declan.

Declan has made some mistakes in the past, but he is working on turning his life around and being the father that his son Liam deserves. The attraction between them was immediate but between their pasts and the family drama they are both going through they definitely had some challenges to overcome.

Solana and Declan take us on an emotional ride as she doesn’t let her past define her and she refuses to let Declan’s define him as well as in each other they finally have the love and support they both deserve.

Note: An ARC was provided by Heart Eyes Press.

Oh, my word... This is it. Afterglow is the 47th book and it's the last one (waaah!) in the epic book universe that is Sarina Bowen's World of True North. One of my favorite things about this book collection is that I've discovered quite a few new-to-me authors that I've happily added to my list of authors to keep my eye on--and Aria Wyatt is one of those authors. Solana Delgado and Declan O'Shaughnessy's story is one they share with his young son, Liam, and what a story it was. This had so much of what I look for--a single parent, an age gap (she's 21 and he's 34), a grumpy hero, and a resilient heroine. It was sweet and steamy and had a great deal of heart. If I could have chosen how to close out both the Busy Bean series and WoTN, it would have been with this five-starred read.
