VISION

v i·sion /ˈviZHən/: the ability to think about or plan the future with Wisdom & Imagination (and don't forget Love and Liberation).

JUSTICE
The Politics of Justice

All too often and for too long, people that have considered themselves "Buddhist" or "Dharmic" —be that yoga, Advaita, or anything that holds fast to the idea of non-dualism and/or Oneness—have opted out of the arena of politics under the guise of being nonjudgmental, that everyone has equal viewpoints, to not choose sides. Call it bypassing or call it head in the sand. Only people bound up in identifying with their privileged location can endeavor to avoid their identity and location.

Rev. angel's path has always kept her feet firmly planted in the political sphere because as incomplete, inadequate, and, yes, unjust, as the system is, it is what we have to work with as we vision towards a newAmerica (oops, spoiler alert). She advocates fiercely for voting. From her first cross-country voter registration drive with Third Wave to being arrested in protest of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) alongside Jack Kornfield she is as at home on the frontlines as on the frontstage. From acting as an intermediary that quelled the disruptions of the progressive Netroots Nation Conference — not once, or twice, but three years in a row — without dismissing the rightful call of the protestors to becoming a familiar onstage presence, weaving calls for love, demanding that we "Trust Black Women" because "Sometimes, when you don’t have center stage, you’ve got to take it." Finally, because The Politics of Justice IS Sacred, it demands our presence, she always offers practices for embodied presence. Because "THIS is what democracy looks like!”

Read what happens when "Shouting ‘trust black women,’ Netroots protesters disrupt speech from white Georgia candidate" and there's a politically-engaged and astute black woman Zen priest onstage.

"The podcast, A Spiritual Guide to Politics, had to run TWO episodes to capture even a fraction of Rev. angel's understanding of the current political moment and the movements that are coalescing in response. Check out part one and part two of this podcast.

And we're excited to share this gem of a short video clip on Separation Rev. angel gave back in 2007 focusing on how global crises create opportunity for shifts to happen, now that it's clearer than ever that separation and individualism are no longer a viable option. Pull up a couch and watch the Full Interview on Global Oneness to here more on how we can respond to the current state we find ourselves in to create JUSTICE.

GIVE

Rev. angel's work for JUSTICE is focused on where the individual and the collective come together -- individual change and power can create the collective change we need. Does that sound abstract? One way to illustrate it is through COLLECTIVE GENEROSITY. First, you read, hear, and experience Rev. angel's message about LIBERATION FOR ALL being the way toward JUSTICE, and you feel personally moved to DONATE MONEY. At the same time, dozens of other people are reading this email and doing the same thing. THE MONEY ADDS UP to POWER REV. ANGEL'S WORK AND MESSAGE. Give $3, $12, $24, $108, $1,080 -- the amount doesn't matter, it's about the collective working together. Be part of it. Your donation is tax-deductible.:

GIVE in multiples or multiplications of 12: $12, $24, $36 to $108  or $120, $1200, $12,000 or anywhere along the spectrum that feels good to you
Rev. angel is made for these times.

GIVE FOR VISION NOW
PS, Remember, when you GIVE it helps capacity-building for Rev. angel's work. To share a personal birthday offering (we know that sometimes it's personal,) you can do that here.

GET

GET when you GIVE towards JUSTICE

In a monumental talk—knowing it to be the last public talk of 2019 the 400th year from the beginning of African peoples being enslaved on this land—Rev. angel opens a new avenue of her discourse on justice by addressing the necessity of the work of emancipation — "getting out of the hand that binds" — from the system. Without such work, we are not free enough to even recognize the path of liberation. Compliments of loveStream.

Give generously. Get generosity in return. (Receive by December 28-January 3 depending on timing of your donation.)
